The search for 38-year-old Melissa McDevitt began on Dec. 10, after she failed to arrive for a scheduled flight from Victoria to Vancouver.

The last time she spoke with her family was on Dec. 8, and on Dec. 10 her vehicle was found abandoned at the Sooke Potholes west of Victoria.

Melissa, 38, is described as a Caucasian woman standing five feet tall and slim, weighing 105 pounds. Melissa has a very small build and her family describe her feet as children’s sized. She lives with alopecia and may be wearing a wig or have short, dyed, rainbow-coloured hair. Melissa is neuro-divergent and may appear to show signs of cognitive delay. Two recent photos of Melissa are below.

Melissa was seen on video on Dec 11th, the day after her car was found nearby. There is a 27 second video in the link.

There's a big search going on right now, hopefully they will find her soon.

The search for a missing 38-year-old hiker who disappeared earlier this month near Victoria has been suspended.

Approximately 170 search-and-rescue volunteers from across B.C. converged on the hiking trails near Sooke, B.C., on Saturday in an effort to locate Melissa McDevitt, who last spoke to her family on Dec. 8.

Not found yet but an update. Her parent's were able to hack into her Garmin account and see that she had mapped out a hiking route and also that she has visited the same parking lot and area a few times the week she went missing.

The RCMP are reactivating the search for Melissa this weekend, spurred on by the information found on her Garmin and the ability to focus on a more specific area.

“We are looking for objects that are going to be very difficult to spot, her hiking poles, shoes, those sorts of things. We’ll be conducting more of a grid type of search as opposed to an initial response search, which is running along, working on trails and looking for evidence that someone has left the trail,” said Berry.

Hopefully they will find something and Melissa's parents could at least have some degree of closure.

A loose group of volunteers who organized on social media under the name "Mindful of Melissa" ultimately located her remains after spending most weekends since her disappearance searching for her, Island District RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Alex Bérubé told CTV News on Thursday.
