Found Deceased Canada - Nirla Sharma, 44, New Westminster, BC, 23 Feb 2020

I’d be interested to hear if the family thinks this is their mom and dog.

The pictures shared of Nirla appear to show her with a small to average build. The person walking the dog in the video seems larger to me. Almost looks male with the style of walk and size. What do others think?
I watched the video several times. It appears to be, IMO, an older man walking the dog, and that the second person is a younger man.

I’ve mapped out the distance between where this new video confirmed to be Nirla was taken (general idea) and the family’s home where she went missing. According to the map it’s a 15 ish minute walk. This location is very close to the Queensborough bridge.

I sure hope she didn’t jump. Be a tragic ending for the family.

Interestingly the video is at 3:27 am. Daughter said she heard the door chime at 4 am. If it’s a 15 minute walk she would have had to leave her home around 3:10-3:15 am.

Surveillance footage released by the New Westminster Police Department appears to show missing woman Nirla Sharma walking alone in the early morning hours of Feb. 24, 2020. (NWPD)
Police have said the case is considered a missing person investigation and not a criminal investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact NWPD detective Justine Thom at 604-529-2430.
“Investigators continue to review a significant amount of video footage, and have released a clip that shows Mrs. Sharma walking alone in the Queensborough Landing business area at 3:27 am,” stated Sergeant Jeff Scott. “Earlier this week video footage which was believed to be Mrs. Sharma was shared widely, however, the New Westminster Police Department can confirm that footage was not of Mrs. Sharma. We are asking that anyone with dash-cam footage who was driving over the Queensborough bridge on February 24th between 3:30am and 5:00am to please come forward.”

That video changes things for me.

Woman goes walking alone in the middle of the night and doesn't come home... there's just no good ending to that, sadly. Unless she's staying with a friend to clear her head or something.

Completely agree. I live a 20 min drive from this area and there is no way as a women I would go walking at that time of night alone in this area. And if I did, and I had a dog at home, I would at the very least bring that dog with me. That’s what doesn’t make sense to me.

Latest post about Nirla from the New Westminster Police Department on FB, that has the Queensborough Landing video:

New Westminster Police
March 3 at 7:16 PM ·
The New Westminster Police Department Major Crime Unit continues to investigate the disappearance of 44-year-old New Westminster resident Nirla Sharma. Mrs. Sharma went missing in the early hours of Monday, February 24th, 2020.

Sharma. We are asking that anyone with dash-cam footage who was driving over the Queensborough bridge on February 24th between 3:30 am and 5:00 am to please come forward.”

Anyone with information into the whereabouts or disappearance of Nirla Sharma is asked to call the New Westminster Police tip line at 604-529-2430.

“As the days go by, we become more and more concerned for her well-being,” stated Sergeant Jeff Scott.

Mrs. Sharma was last seen at her residence located in the 300 block of Lawrence Street in New Westminster on February 23rd at 9:00 pm. Mrs. Sharma was wearing pink pajamas with a pink T-shirt and had gone to bed. At approximately 4:00 am on February 24th, a family member reports hearing the front door open. Mrs. Sharma typically arrives at work in Burnaby at approximately 6:30 am, but she did not attend work that morning.

Mrs. Sharma is described as a South Asian female, standing 5’3”, with a slim build weighing approximately 138lbs, with a medium complexion, short black hair, and brown eyes.

Mrs. Sharma has a tattoo on her left arm of an OM symbol, and tattoos of a crown on her right wrist, a rose on her tailbone and a design on her left ankle. She was last seen wearing pajamas; however, she may be wearing a black jacket with a hood and orange Nike shoes." BBM

This post is also currently pinned to the top of the NWPD FB page. It is good to know that they are still investigating.

maybe i’m not looking in the right places but it feels like there has been hardly any further information or updates on NS. a woman goes walking thru queensborough at 3:30 in the morning, no backpack no purse.. and most importantly no phone ? just disappears.

makes me curious if it was intentional disappearance.. her daughter said during the tv interview that if NS left on purpose it’s okay just tell them. so maybe she did ?

that river is trafficked 24 hours a day by the tugboats and she is wearing very bright sneakers. i would think if she went to the water she would have been found by now?

So sad. I’m thankful the family will have some closure now at least. Tragic.

Re: some of the questions about the timeline-I think when the daughter said the door chimed around 0400, she may have been guessing, or just assuming that was the time if that's when her mom was usually taking the dog out. I think there had been a question earlier in the thread about how her daughter could be so precise. I also wonder if when her husband was looking for her at 0700, it could be because her work had called home or her emergency contact to see why she hadn't come in. 30 min late for shift work would fit with that timeline.
