Colchester County District RCMP is asking for the public's assistance in locating 32-year-old Cynthia Flemming who was last seen on the afternoon of August 29, on Riverside Ave. in Bible Hill.

Flemming is described as 5-foot- 6, shoulder length blonde hair with dark roots and brown eyes. She has a tattoo on her upper arm of a rose. She was last seen wearing shorts and a tank top, was carrying a large purse and was getting into a maroon SUV.

RCMP investigators have been in contact with Flemming's family and friends, who have not heard from her, and investigators are becoming increasingly concerned for her wellbeing.

RCMP aren’t saying if anything in particular led the force’s Northeast Nova major crime unit to take over the investigation into a missing woman in Colchester County.

Cynthia Flemming, 32, was last seen Aug. 29 on Riverside Avenue in Bible Hill and was reported missing to police Sept. 1. The force announced Friday that major crime is now handling the case.

“The Northeast Nova major crime unit is leading the investigation, but that’s all I can say,” Cpl. Guillaume Tremblay said Monday.

He also said he couldn’t comment on why it was turned over so quickly. Generally, missing person cases don’t switch hands so quickly.

“Every investigation is different and depends on the circumstances, but as of right now all I can say is that it’s the major crime unit that is leading the investigation,” Tremblay said.

The body of a woman who was reported missing earlier this month has been found in Truro N.S., following an investigation into her disappearance by the RCMP's northeast major crime unit.

The Mounties say 32-year-old Cynthia Flemming was last seen in late August and reported missing from the Bible Hill area on Sept. 1.

Cpl. Chris Marshall said authorities are still looking into the circumstances that led to her disappearance and death.

"We don't believe that her death is suspicious, but certainly, that could change as the investigation progresses over the next few days and weeks," Marshall said.

The investigation is being helped by the Truro Police Service and the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner's Office.
