Ratchford disappeared after leaving a prospect site at Lake Geneva, Ontario, on October 28, 1974. He was last seen walking to Highway 144, intending to catch a ride to Timmins. Ratchford has never been seen or heard from since. Investigators believe he is possibly the victim of foul play although his body has never been recovered. His whereabouts remain unknown.
