‘Keep an eye out’: Search continues for missing 26-year-old man in Toronto
''Toronto police said Raheem White was last seen on Dec. 1. in the Osler Street and Pelham Avenue area at approximately 3:30 p.m.''

''Khadijah Salawu said it's out of character for her friend to go missing.
"He means a lot to us. And it's been really great to see other people who don't even know him connect to what's happening and what we're feeling and what we're doing," Salawu said.''

''Christian Evans considers White as his brother. Friends for about five years, Evans said he and White learned how to DJ together. He said White's disappearance is hard to comprehend.

"Me and a lot of people know Raheem as one of the most reliable, stable guys. He's the type of guy that's always there for you when you're going through it," Evans said.''

''Ariza said White brings a sense of calm and serenity in their friend group, and that's why him being missing is unexpected.
"For anyone who might be in the neighbourhood, just generally around Toronto, be mindful when you step outside. We've been spreading flyers. Just keep an eye out," Ariza said. "Keep him in your thoughts, keep him in your prayers.''

''White is described as six-foot-tall and weighs 190 pounds, with an athletic build, brown hair in dreadlocks and brown eyes. Police said he has tattoos of a palm tree on his bicep and a rose on his shoulder.

White was last seen wearing a black jacket, black pants, an orange toque and a black backpack.

Const. Alex Li said investigators continue to receive tips about White's possible whereabouts.

"We're actively following up on these leads. Further to that, any missing person we take very seriously," Li said.

He is urging anyone with information about White to contact them at 416-808-2222 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.

"No matter how big or how small this piece of information you might have, that might be the missing piece of the puzzle that our investigators need," Li said.

"We are worried, and we're concerned about his well-being. We're hoping that we can find him as soon as possible."

He was initially reported as having been last seen in the Lake Shore Boulevard West and Ellis Avenue area. Reports now say he was last seen in the Osler Street and Pelham Avenue area. There is a 15 min or so drive between these two locations (if I mapped it correctly). Was the initial report incorrect or did investigators receive new info (e.g., CCTV, witness reports, cell pings, etc.) that places him at the second location? Google Maps

His mom mentions "...there were some issues with Raheem and he is missing...". I wonder what those issues were? Was he having mental health issues, issues at work or with his girlfriend? Knowing a bit more info surrounding his issues could help direct people on where and what to be on the lookout for. I hope he is safe and makes contact quickly.

'Totally out of character': Family, friends of missing west Toronto man Raheem White worried sick
''Many have also taken to social media to see if anyone has any information about his whereabouts.

White, who grew up in Brampton, but most recently lived near Christie Pits, is a well-known local DJ who has played at a lot of clubs, local arts events, and on radio shows. He likes skateboarding and cycling, and is also into fashion and cooking.''

''Evans said everyone is especially concerned as White’s van was located in a Green P lot near Lake Shore Boulevard West and Ellis Avenue. He’d left his wallet and keys inside the vehicle.

White’s mother, Rose Johnson, who is currently in Jamaica, appealed to the public to help find her eldest son.

“We need Raheem back home safely. We are praying and anticipating his safe return,” she wrote in an email to toronto.com.

“His friends are up all night searching for him. His girlfriend is so upset. His young brothers are asking what's happening.”

Johnson said the last time she spoke on the phone with her son was Nov. 29 when he called to wish his father a happy birthday.''

“He appeared so excited. He spoke about his new business and he was looking forward to a new chapter in his life,” White’s mom shared, adding the pandemic and the hard work her son has been doing “may have been a lot of pressure for him.”

Interesting. Maybe his gf is too "upset" (from @dotr's link in post #6) to give interviews. I'd be upset too if my bf was missing, but it would take a case of duct tape to keep me from talking. MOO

Missing for more than a week, no one seems to have any idea where Toronto resident Raheem White has gone
SBM
White, who said her son was in good spirits and excited about his future when they last spoke, strongly believes those with whom he spent the most time, especially his girlfriend ZG, must have some idea about his disappearance.

“His girlfriend and her family must know what has happened. Raheem seems to have spent most of his time recently with them,” she said.

Toronto.com has reached out to G. on two occasions for comment, however both times our request for an interview was denied. Instead, we were urged to contact Toronto police.

It’s been nearly six months since Raheem White was reported missing from Toronto’s Junction neighbourhood and his mother, Rosemarie, says she feels the investigation has begun to stall.

Speaking with CTV News Toronto on the phone from her home in Jamaica, Rosemarie White recalled Raheem’s childhood growing up in Brampton, Ont.

“He always got along with everybody,” she said. “Raheem is an awesome young man.”

''At the time of his disappearance, Raheem was working as a local DJ and had plans to move in with his girlfriend, those close to him said.

With every passing day, White says she continues to pray for her son’s safety.

THE DISAPPEARANCE

Raheem was last seen on Dec. 1. in the Osler Street and Pelham Avenue area of Toronto at around 3:30 p.m, according to police. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, black pants, an orange toque and a black backpack.

A vehicle belonging to Raheem has since been located by investigators, with his wallet and personal belongings inside. His cellphone remains missing.''

Raheem’s former roommate and close friend, Stefen Coward, said he spoke to Raheem on a regular basis before his disappearance. The last time the two saw one another was Nov. 29 – two days before Raheem was reported missing.

“It didn't seem like anything was off,” he said, adding Raheem had visited him to sign employment documents in order to work alongside him building sets for television shows in the Greater Toronto Area.''

''Maureen Trask, an Ontario advocate for missing persons and their families, was contacted by Rosemarie during the first week Raheem went missing.
Trask told CTV News Toronto she works as an advocate because her own son, Daniel Trask, went missing in 2011 for three-and-a-half years before his remains were found. During that process, she said she “realized how little service is available to families to help them not only understand the process [of a missing persons case], but to understand their role.”

“I need to keep awareness out there. That's what I'm really looking for. That's why I'm doing this.”

Meanwhile, she’s asking for anyone who might have information on the case to come forward.

“I believe somebody knows where my son is,” she said. “Somebody must know something.”

Toronto police are also asking anyone with information pertaining to Raheem’s disappearance to contact them at 416-808-2222. ''

I hate to say this, but if they feel he was upset about something, and his keys, wallet and car are found by the water, that’s likely where he is.

I was a search volunteer for a teacher who went missing during January, years ago. Police believed he jumped from the Whitby pier because his shoes were found there. His body was found on the shore 2 km east, irrc, in March of that year.

We charted the prevailing currents using historical data, which gave an approximate area where he could surface—and that’s where he was. (SAR found him).

For Lake Ontario you need a good one - two weeks or so of warm weather for the remains to surface and travel if the victim went into the water in winter. (sorry) That’s what SAR people told us searchers.

If I were the family, I’d rent a boat and search the coastline. Or I’d ask LE to call in OVERT (official provincial search team).

(I’d search, but I’m not in Toronto now.)

It’s been over five months since 26-year-old Raheem White mysteriously went missing from the Junction neighbourhood, but his mother has yet to give up hope. As police continue their investigation, Rose White is leaning on a community for answers and support, hoping her son soon comes home.

Speaking with CityNews, Rose says she has hired her own investigative team and is relying on the support of another mother, who has dealt with this very same situation and is now an advocate for families of missing people.''

''Trask has raised questions about the day White was reported missing, and the timeline surrounding his disappearance.

“It’s very clear that between his first pickup of his shift, and when the vehicle was found, there’s over a five-hour lapse and no proof that he put the truck there so what happened in those five-plus hours?” asks Trask. “That is the piece of the puzzle that I feel will truly answer what transpired.
Although every case is unique, in every case, there is individual. Someone, somewhere, knows something and it just takes that someone to step up and do the right thing.”

Maureen Trask’s youngest son, Daniel, went missing in 2011. After exhaustive searches led by Trask and her family, his remains were found in 2015 in Michigan’s back country.

Trask’s experiences dealing with police and difficulty accessing resources while her son was missing led her to the advocacy work she does now. It was Rose who reached out to Trask when her son first went missing in late 2021.

White went missing on Dec. 1 from the Osler Street and Pelham Avenue area. Police located his work vehicle shortly after, along with his wallet and personal belongings inside the car. Since then, there have been several spottings of him, even as of last week, but none have been confirmed.

“He went to work as he normally would do, and he went missing from his job. Everything that my son worked for was left behind. And there’s been no real answers. There has been no real footage, nothing of my son since that particular afternoon,” Rose explained.

“I still believe my son is out there. There was a sighting [Wednesday], there was a tip [Wednesday] and it was in the Ossington area at one of the homeless shelters,” said Rose.

What's LE? How did you get to be a part of a search team? That's pretty cool.

LE is law enforcement.

I volunteered. Often with a missing person there’s a general call for the public to help, but I haven’t seen that in this case.

The wife of the missing teacher in the case I mentioned became a member here, so the locals who were searching mapped out the routes we covered, including the fyers we put up.

Thanks, from link..

Appeal for Information on Missing Toronto Man Raheem White, 27 | Toronto Police & Crime Stoppers

Jun 27, 2022 rbbm.

''In May, police said they continued to follow up on leads about him, even probing a possible sighting of White in Vancouver late March. At the time, his mother Rose told Torstar that she had connected with a non-for-profit called Please Bring Me Home in her search for White. “I feel very confident they’re going to dig and do what’s necessary to find out what happened,” she said''.

''Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Toronto Police Missing Persons Unit at 416-808-7411, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477), or at www.222tips.com.''

''The mother of Raheem White, a Toronto man missing since late 2021, says his body was recovered in Lake Ontario.

Rosemarie White-Johnson tells CityNews that she received a call from Toronto police two days ago with the news, though many questions still appear to be unanswered.''

There had been reported several sightings, investigators acknowledged, but none were confirmed.

Witnesses near Toronto’s lakeshore called police after some spotted a body at Sunnyside Beach on Monday.

Rosemarie says she received a phone call from the police saying a body that could be Raheem’s was found in Lake Ontario. One day later, police called her back and said the tattoos on the person’s body and dental records matched her son.

“Young people don’t just get up and go to work and show up in a body bag,” Rosemarie said in an interview. “It doesn’t make sense. I need answers. I think the community needs answers.”
