''York Regional Police are seeking the public's assistance to help identify a woman who was found in Richmond Hill earlier today.

At 9:20 a.m., police were called to the area of Atkinson Road and Centre Street for a report of an unknown woman who had been found by a concerned citizen''

When officers arrived, they spoke with the woman who was not dressed for the weather and appeared to have been outdoors for some time, police said in a news release.

She appears to be non-verbal and officers have been unable to determine her identity.

Officers have ensured her safety and well-being, but are appealing to the public for any information on her identity and are seeking her family members or caregivers. Anyone with information is asked to contact police immediately.

She is described as:
  • Female
  • White
  • Thin build
  • 5 feet 7 inches tall
  • Shoulder-length blond hair
  • Blue eyes
  • Wearing a green sweater, black jogging pants and black shoes
Anyone with information is asked to contact the York Regional Police #2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7241, or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, or leave an anonymous tip online at www.1800222tips.com. ''

I am happy this sweetheart is safe and well and quickly reunited with family. Too many autistic or otherwise nonverbal people have been found wandering the streets alone lately. Which is scary.

She looks very sad. I hope she was able to connect with some mental health care, if that's what she needs. I'm having a little smile, seeing that she has her sweater on backwards. What a reasonable idea when wearing a V neck sweater over a V neck tee shirt. If you wear one backwards then at least there's a bit more cover for your chest.

Oh, thank goodness. I was worried she was going to be another living Doe like Cordarius Doe in TX for months, no sign of his family or guardians yet.

I'm just glad she was found unhurt and is safe now.
