SQ, RCMP search for missing toddler in Montérégie | CBC News

Sûreté du Québec, RCMP officers and local firefighters are searching for a missing two-year-old boy, last seen at his family home in Dundee, Que., around 8 p.m. Saturday night.

The boy, Ryland, has strawberry blonde hair, blue eyes and weighs about 30 pounds. He was wearing a grey sweater with a GAP logo, sky blue shorts and blue sneakers.

Canine units and the SQ helicopter were brought in to help in the search, which resumed early Sunday morning.

Provincial police say this is not the first time the toddler has wandered off, adding that their search is made difficult by the current height of cornfields in the area which might obscure a child of that size.

Ryland has been missing for about 12 hours in Dundee, QC. I grew up near there and I know how expansive the fields can be and how difficult it would be to find someone with the corn over knee high. If you see any sign of him please call 911. @CTVMontreal

Le garçon n’a pas été vu depuis 20h, moment où il a échappé à la vue de ses parents, a expliqué le porte-parole de la Sûreté du Québec, Daniel Thibaudeau.

Le petit Ryland Muehleisen mesure environ 1 m et pèse 13 kg. Il a les cheveux roux frisés et les yeux bleus. Au moment de sa disparition, il portait un chandail gris de la marque GAP, des pantalons courts bleu ciel ainsi que des souliers bleus avec des touches de vert.

The toddler, named Ryland Muehleisen, escaped the vigilance of his parents around 8 p.m. and has not been seen since.

Police officers, search dogs, research specialists and an helicopter from the Sûreté du Québec have been deployed. RCMP officers have also joined the SQ as well as local and U.S. firefighters.

Searches are from Dundee Road, where the residence is located. There are no rivers nearby, but fields and woods.

The boy, who might be autistic, is 1 foot, 6 inches tall and weighs 28 pounds. He has red curly hair, and blue eyes. At the time of his disappearance he was wearing a grey GAP branded sweater, blue short pants and blue and green shoes.

Two-year-old boy missing in Monteregie region

The parents of the little boy, whose name is Ryland, lost sight of him at 8:00 p.m. on July 7 in Dundee, around 100 kilometres southwest of Montreal, near the Dundee Family Residence Centre.

Since his disappearance, the Surete du Quebec has deployed officers, police dogs and helicopters as part of the search. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police are also assisting with the search, and Canadian and American fire departments have also deployed units to help.

Lost toddler found safe in cornfield near his home in Montérégie region

“The boy was found around 8:45 a.m. in a cornfield about 250 metres from his home,” said Sgt. Claude Denis, spokesperson for the SQ.

“He was found in a happy state, while eating a chocolate cookie, he was treated by paramedics after sustaining a lot of mosquito bites.”
