GUILTY Canada - Shannon Burgess, 25, Calgary, 26 Nov 2014 - #4 *Arrest*

Do we know for a fact that he still had the dog even?

Calgary is located in Zone 3, and the frost free period is roughly May 23 - Sept 15. I doubt that Josh could dig a hole big enough to bury a body in December, but keeping a body in the house is just incredibly abnormal. What was he thinking each day as he came home from work? What was the dog doing all this time? I would expect a dog to be constantly scratching at a container with a body.

who's to say Josh didn't type that under her profile as a final parting shot. Perhaps there had been some suspected infidelity on her part and he had concerns that she might have been pregnant and that it wouldn't have been his baby?....maybe that's what the murder was all about? If she was reportedly, according to him, last seen at 12:30am on Nov 27th then it's entirely possible he killed her on the 26th and it was him who had posted this, to make her look bad. JMO. It just doesn't seem like something she would post.............I guess unless this is something he had been accusing her of, cheating on him with other men involved in the theatre group and she posted this sarcastically. so hard to say for sure.

Maybe this last FB post of Shannon's (we have all pondered over) was all it took to tick Josh off:

Shannon H Burgess I will forever miss the man who may or may not have knocked me up when I was whoring myself out for funzies... I miss Alliance

Moo. This guy was clearly capable of anything. I would imagine it was quite the night. Crazy no one heard anything...at least what has been released. Moo.

It's possible that he had planned to remove her body from the home early on, dump it somewhere, but something got in the way of that plan........and once the news broke of her being missing he never knew if LE was watching him or not but erred on the side of them likely watching him and as such, then too late to take the risk of trying to get a body out of the house and into a vehicle and dump it. I find it hard to believe that anyone who murders their spouse is going to intentionally choose to keep the body in the home for realistic fear of never knowing if/when LE will want to do a forensic search of the home and will therefore find the body.

Short of having a deep freeze though, I don't see how he would have ever been able to keep a decomposing body for 7 months without neighbors smelling something a long time ago. He clearly could not have dug a hole in the ground outside in late Nov/early Dec as ground would be frozen and getting caught digging in one's yard in the winter would be a huge red flag to anyone would see him, most especially once the news broke that she was missing.....IMO

Isn't the crazy part related to killing his wife and keeping her body in, or at, their house for seven months?

Was this his way of ensuring that she didn't leave him? He can still say good night to her each night knowing she's nearby ... in the closet or the backyard?

You can bet the strike force was watching that house for some time. I almost wonder if that's not where the new information came from...or if it was the result of some other under cover operation.

I'm curious about camera locations on the co-op complex buildings. If there's a camera at each entrance, the only way he could remove a body was in a suitcase (box, container) down the hall and out one of the exits. Alternatively, he could remove a body through his back yard, but there may also be cameras on the parking lots. If he had taken a large object out of the building at any time, and put it in his vehicle, he would have to explain it. I think he was basically stuck in terms of removing her body from the townhouse. He probably got desperate at some point and dug a hole in the very small backyard - that may be what led to the arrest.

I guess we'll learn more over the next few days and months. It's tragic all round.

What a beautiful video...for a beautiful person who refused to conform and give up on her dreams. What a loss!

We can only hope that justice now prevails in some form or other against this beast who has taken her from us.

RIP Shannon - so sad :(

If I had to take a guess, all MY OPINION....I'd say that he was more into the relationship than she was. I don't know why, but I get a very entitled feeling from him, that he wasn't as good socially as she was, and that he was perhaps awkward, but wanted very much to fit in. Would try to be goofy, and seek attention, but also was very self-conscious. ALL MOO My guess about the murder is that they got into a fight or disagreement and he loses control and then kills her by hitting, strangling, or neck snapping somehow. So there would be no weapon. He then panics and decides to try to cover it up, and at that point there is no going back really. Like others, I don't know how he would have concealed her body in the house unless it was frozen. I do think she was buried, or at least part of her was buried, but I think it may not have happened until sometime after she went missing. Maybe disturbed dirt this spring is one of the tip offs? Again this is all just MOO! It will be interesting to see what goes on and comes out with the legal proceedings.

I was thinking the same thing. It seemed very much out of context of the thread, unless there are posts there that are hidden because of privacy settings. Just a strange outburst all in all.

Josh Burgess is a beast. I cannot stop thinking about what should be done to this animal. I can only hope he does very hard time.

...Shannon played the role of Reiji Uno in the Cardfight!! Vanguard: Link Joker Hen television anime series.

(There's a comment posted about how her character Reiji Uno hadn't appeared in the series since last year...I suppose they will re-cast her role now, or perhaps not. Tough shoes to fill.)

<modsnip> I believe he needs to be brought to justice. I am hoping the penal system looks after him. Nothing personal. Just don't want him to get off easy here. Our system tends to be very lenient on second degree murder. Let's hope in this instance this does not occur. I also hope he ends up in a tough prison like Saskatchewan penitentiary and not Boden or Drumheller aka summer camp.

I think the police have been watching him and he attempted to move the body this week. That's how it turned to homicide because they saw her body. If it got buried or not.

And about her last fb post, I think it is a line from a script by the production company Alliance. Maybe the production she was in wasn't by Alliance? And she missed working for them? I have no idea the meaning behind it.

I think this is a very valid assertion. You can bet he was under surveillance. They have both manned and remote surveillance units they can employ. So there is no reason the house would not be under watch.

He won't go to SasPen unless he does something else while incarcerated. They'll keep him in Alberta. Unless he requests to be moved to another province or needs to be transferred for family reasons.

We have Beavercreek here in Ontario. It's like a college campus with a fence around it. In Muskoka. A kitchen and common room per 10-12 inmates. Open doors. You'd be surprised who's in that prison and not at some higher lock up facility. I don't agree with it but if they do their programs and don't cause problems, they get transferred there. It's almost like summer camp. Except in the winter
