"Toronto police have launched its highest level search for a 74-year-old woman who went missing on Christmas Eve.

Shirley Lee was last scene in the area of Guildwood Parkway and Kingston Road around 9 p.m. last night.

She is described as white, 5’3″, 145 pounds with short grey hair. She’s wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and grey “Sketchers” shoes.

"We are asking that the public check their immediate area – check their backyards, their garages and porches, especially the community in the area.”

“The family is quite concerned for her safety. There is chance she might be confused as she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s a year ago so it’s obviously a priority that we locate Shirley as soon as possible.”

Lee’s grandson told CP24 his family has been searching familiar places to her in the area since she went missing.

“She’s confused and alone,” Chris Chase said. “She’s a very nice lady, very kind. She has lived in this area for many years – 22 years now.”

“She would know this area, she has Alzheimer’s so she might be looking for something familiar, something she used to know and hopefully she is there safe and we can bring her home.”

It’s been 48 hours since Shirley Lee was last seen, first at her home in the area of Lawrence and Morningside avenues in Scarborough around 9 p.m. Monday night. Police say she was also spotted three kilometres away in the area of Rowatson Road and Guildwood Parkway around 10:30 p.m.

On Wednesday night, police said they were broadening their search to include Eglinton Avenue near the Kingston Road and Markham Road area after security footage captured an image of her around 1 a.m. Christmas Day.

Chris Chase says his grandmother used to live in that area for more than two decades and that she’s likely confused.

“Right now, she might not know where she is and that’s why she keeps going looking for somewhere familiar,” Chase said Tuesday night.

"Shirley Lee was found a citizen around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday night. Police would not say where she was found but did tell CityNews she will be examined by doctors but initial indications are she is doing well."
