Steinbach RCMP officers found human remains in Ste. Anne on Friday after a man who lives there called police to report that a human skull was found in his yard.

On Thursday afternoon, his dog Lucy came home with a skull she had dug up across the road in a forest, the man said.

Officers responded to the call, seized the skull and conducted a brief search of the property on Thursday, said police.

The discovery of human remains has led to speculation in the rural municipality of Ste. Anne that the find may be linked to the disappearance of a Winnipeg woman 22 years ago.
A dog uncovered a human skull there late last week. Officers from the major crimes unit in Winnipeg are investigating, combing the area for more evidence.
Local reeve Art Bergmann said some residents in the community wonder if the remains could belong to Christine Jack — a mother of two who disappeared from her St. Vital home in December of 1988. "Speculation in the community is that this may be linked with a fairly extensive search that occurred some two decades ago," said Bergmann. "There was some thinking that the remains may have been in that area."

Human remains found in the Rural Municipality of Ste. Anne last week belong to a male, RCMP reported Tuesday.
The findings came after an autopsy conducted Monday.
While police still don't know the identity of the person they found, nor his age, they said there's no indication that he was the victim of foul play

I didn't see anything new about whether these remains were ever identified. Does Manitoba have any kind of database for unidentified people?

Article about the autopsy has pictures of the bones, though there's not much to see:

Remains found near Ste. Anne still unidentified
