"Fonyo was 19 years old when he completed a one-legged run across the country, following in the footsteps of Terry Fox, who was forced to abandon his Marathon of Hope four years earlier.

Since then, however, the one-time hero has battled personal demons including cocaine addiction and depression"

"Five years ago Fonyo was stripped of his Order of Canada after piling up several criminal convictions, including impaired driving, assault with a weapon, fraud and theft.

Neighbours have told CBC News that Fonyo has been nothing but trouble since he moved into the neighbourhood."

I prefer to remember him as the young man who ran 2 marathons - once in Canada and once in the UK and who raised
