''York Regional Police say the victim was walking through an alleyway from McCowan Rd. towards Woodhall Rd. – just north of Steeles Ave. E. – between 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. when an unknown man grabbed her and “forcefully dragged her between two houses.”

“Officers learned that motion-sensor lights went off between the two homes and a person was walking a dog in the area, which may have scared the suspect away,” Const. Maniva Armstrong said in a statement released Friday.

“Police continue to search for the potential witness who was walking a dog in the area of the alley and Woodhall Rd.,” she said.

Investigators have released an image and video from nearby security cameras of a suspect and are asking anyone who can identify him to come forward.

“The suspect is urged to contact legal counsel and turn himself in,” Armstrong said.''

''In an update on Thursday, authorities confirmed that Toronto police are investigating a similar incident involving the same suspect.

Toronto police said just after midnight on Feb. 2, a woman was walking alone in the Brimley Road and Lawrence Avenue East area in Scarborough when a man appeared from behind and choked her before stealing her cell phone.

Surveillance video from Scarborough Town Centre was released in hopes of identifying the suspect. Authorities are urging the man to turn himself in.''

''York Regional Police has arrested a man wanted for allegedly assaulting two women in separate incidents in Markham and Toronto, and said there may be more victims.

Oegadesg Thomas Howe of Toronto has been charged with assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon, robbery and fail to comply with a release order, police said Thursday.

The first attack took place in Markham on Feb. 1 between 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Police said a man grabbed a woman, who was walking through an alleyway from McCowan Road toward Woodhall Road, and forcefully dragged her between two houses. The suspect fled when motion sensor lights were activated when a person came walking by.

Police said they are concerned the suspect may have followed other women prior to the offence in Markham, adding that they believe the man travelled to Scarborough Town Centre that evening, as well.''
