RCMP, SAR teams searching for missing Nanaimo couple

Snipped...

VICTORIA -- Nanaimo Search and Rescue teams and RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a couple who have not returned from a scheduled fishing trip.

...The truck is described as a burgundy-coloured Dodge 1500 pickup truck with a matching burgundy canopy with licence plate number NV9240.

Police say all four of the couple’s boats have been accounted for.

The pair are believed to have been in the Second Lake or Echo Lake area for their fishing trip.

Search and rescue teams have already began scouring the area and an RCMP helicopter was searching the region during daylight hours Thursday. The helicopter is set to be redeployed on Friday morning, if necessary.

Sandulak is believed to have been wearing a black jacket and jeans or dark leggings during the fishing trip. Meanwhile, Martin is believed to have been wearing tan pants, a black shirt and a black jacket.

Anyone who sees Sandulak, Martin or their truck is asked to call 911 or the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345.

Nanaimo Search and Rescue has set up its operations base in the Nanaimo Lakes area

'Cody Martin, 32, and Tamara Sandulak, 29, told family and friends they were heading to the Nanaimo Lakes area to go fishing, but they did not return Wednesday and were reported missing to Nanaimo RCMP Thursday. The couple was accompanied by their black Labrador-cross dog Rex and travelled to the area in a burgundy-coloured Dodge Ram 1500 pickup, bearing B.C. licence plate No. NV9 240.'

It is reported that this couple has spent time in this area fishing and picking wild mushrooms and area is well known to them. There is active logging and it's hunting season. Air and ground search but apparently the dogs have yet to be brought in.
