''Two males and a female are being sought after a woman was assaulted and slashed in the face at Spadina Station on Sunday evening.
Toronto Police say the incident happened around 6:35 p.m. when the woman got into “a verbal dispute with three individuals not known to her.”

''One of the males spat in her face and repeatedly pushed her while the second male brandished a six-inch knife with a jagged edge and “slashed the woman in her face causing facial injuries,” police said in a release Monday.''

''The knife-wielding male is described as 5-foot-10 and 140 pounds with a slim build and black puffy hair. He was wearing a grey jacket with a fur hood, a grey sweater, a blue mask, grey sweat pants, and black running shoes.

The second male is 16-19 years old, 5-foot-7 and 130 pounds with a slim build and short black puffy hair. He was wearing a black winter jacket, a grey hooded sweater, black jeans, black and white running shoes, and a white mask''

''The female is aged 14 to 17 and 5-foot-4 and 120 pounds with long black hair in a pony tail, a black puffy jacket, grey sweat pants, and white and black running shoes. She was carrying a large brown leather purse with gold straps.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-5300 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).''

''Police have made three arrests after a woman was slashed in the face at Spadina Station over the weekend.

In a news release, police said officers responded to a call for a suspicious incident in a separate investigation near Long Branch Avenue and Lake Promenade in Etobicoke on Monday.

At that time, police said, an officer was investigating a boy in the stairwell of a residential building. The boy attempted to flee, police said, and alerted another boy and girl.''

''Then, one of the boys swung a machete at the officer, according to police.

Const. Alex Li has confirmed the Special Investigations Unit has invoked its mandate following the encounter. In an update, the SIU said one of the suspects sustained serious injuries following the interaction with the officer. He was later transported to hospital.

All three young people were arrested and are believed to be the suspects involved in the incident at Spadina Station.''

The amount of random crimes that pop up here from Toronto is insane or does just more get reported? How is mental health availability in Canada?

Criminality and mental illness aren't synonymous. If there's a lot of crime in Toronto, that suggests there are a lot of criminals there. A small fraction may be mentally ill, but the majority are just criminals.
