" Police are investigating a chilling abduction attempt in which a man allegedly tried to drag a woman into a van in East Vancouver Tuesday night.

The 22-year-old woman was walking on Prince Albert Street near East 10th Avenue when a man grabbed her from behind, according to police.

Investigators say he dragged her to a dark green, older model minivan and then hit her in the head and face with an unknown object.

She managed to fight off the attacker, causing him to fall back into the van, before running to a nearby home where she called 911".

"The male suspect has been described as Caucasian, in his 30s, 6′ tall, wearing a dark hoodie and gloves.

Anyone with information about the van or male suspect is asked to call the Vancouver Police Sex Crimes Unit or Crime Stoppers 1-800-222-8477".
