"Police have made an arrest in the murder of a 28-year-old woman who was found dead inside her West Queen West apartment earlier this week.

Victoria Selby-Readman was found suffering from obvious signs of trauma inside the fifth-floor apartment that she rented at a building on Richmond Street near Niagara Street on Tuesday evening.

In a news release issued on Sunday, police said that they have now arrested a 41-year-old man in connection with her death."

An online obituary for Selby-Readman, which describes her as a writer, states that she died in the early hours of June 10.

The obituary says the woman spent her early years in Mississauga and Caledon, Ont., before attending the University of Toronto.

“She was an independent spirit in the truest sense, hoping to make a place for herself in this world by her own efforts and creativity through writing,” the obituary states.

Suspect in murder of Queen West woman met her through social media: Police
"Det. Paul Worden told The Canadian Press Sunday that text messages and conversations Selby-Readman had with friends have lead him to believe that she met the suspect through social media, where she had recently posted ads on Instagram and Facebook seeking a roommate.

Worden said he does not believe the two had a romantic relationship and police had not recently been alerted to any disturbances at the apartment.

“It was a roommate-type relationship, but due to the brief time he was there and the level of violence that occurred within a few weeks, (the death) is unusual,” Worden said.

Worden said the suspect was known to police in Durham Region for a number of alleged domestic incidents.

Investigators believe that other women may have also been contacted by the suspect on social media. Those people are now being urged to contact police"

After six months, jury selection in Toronto has finally resumed. But due to COVID-19, it’s not quite the same
''The accused in the case is Richard Isaac, a heavy-set man in his 40s who removed his face mask before indicating he is pleading not guilty to second-degree murder. He is charged with beating 28-year-old Victoria Selby-Readman to death in a downtown Toronto condo between June 8 and 10, 2018.

One of the reasons the sprawling convention centre was chosen for jury selection is because it is far easier to maintain safe social distancing than at the downtown courthouse, he explained. The trial itself, though, will be held at the downtown Superior Court at 361 University Ave., which also has strict protocols in place.''

Man, 41, charged with 2nd-degree murder of female roommate he allegedly met through social media
''Gary Readman, Selby-Readman’s father, said his daughter was loving, careful and trusting.''

''Worden said Isaac was wanted on an outstanding warrant in Durham region on a domestic incident for making harassing phone calls, unlawful entry and breach of a peace bond.

Global News has learned Isaac has eight prior convictions.

Court documents obtained by Global News found the most recent conviction was in March 2018 for domestic assault and mischief, for which he was handed a 24-month suspended sentence and a 10-year weapons prohibition.

In January 2008, Isaac was also convicted of assault and failing to comply with probation in relation to a domestic incident involving his ex-wife. For that, he was sentenced to 60 days in jail and three years probation''

''The detective warns anyone looking to find a roommate to do “some research no matter how desperate you are.”

“If you need help with the rent, it’s worth the time and effort to do background checks, contact previous landlords and get references.”

Wow... I had the unfortunate experience of meeting that repulsive creature on Facebook 6 or 7 years ago. I observed his rage, perversion, manipulation, and verbal abuse of young women. I called him out on his abusive and hypocritical behavior. Other people dug up and exposed his abusive history with his ex wife at that time and tried to warn the women he pursued and somehow managed to charm online. I distinctly remember him telling me that he’d find me and kick my head like a football... That’s absolutely chilling to think about , considering that’s exactly how he killed that young woman . She didn’t have to die like that. I am literally appalled to learn how extensive his history of domestic violence really was, and got a slap on the wrist each time he beat, stalked, harassed a young woman! Men with a violent history need tagged and exposed just like sex offenders are in the USA, or kept locked up . Time and time again these guys are released and almost always end up murdering some sweet young girl that had her entire life ahead of her! 8 counts of domestic violence! 8!! He should have been locked up a long time ago ! The Canadian justice system failed this young woman and all of his previous victims. He may have very well beaten other women to death that are now unsolved murder or missing person cases for all we know! I contacted the Canadian authorities via email in 2019 after I learned what happened and that he was accused of her murder. I told them about my experience with Richard Isaac on Facebook and that I absolutely believed that he’s capable of committing such a violent crime against a female. I hope he suffers daily the same abüse he inflicted on women while he’s in prison. He deserves zero chance of parole. 🤬🤬🤬!
