Police are looking for an elderly Ontario man who was last seen in Quebec on July 21, the man's family says.

Tobermory, Ont., resident Walter Allan, 84, was spotted at a gas station in Sainte-Brigide-d'Iberville, about 60 kilometres south of Boucherville. He hasn't been seen since.

An avid collector of paper money and coins, he was in the area to attend the Royal Canadian Numismatic Association's annual conference in Boucherville, on Montreal's South Shore, which took place July 20 to July 23.

His family said police are now searching for Allan's red 2007 Ford Focus station wagon with the licence plate ABNW 718.

Allan is described as five feet eight inches tall and weighing between 68 and 72 kilograms. He has white hair and a full white beard.

His car was located...

The vehicle registered to Walter Allan has been found in Quebec, but the Northern Bruce Peninsula man remains missing.
A red 2007 Ford Focus ZXW registered to the 84-year-old Allan was found in a rural area near Saint Barthelemy, Que., on Monday and Quebec's provincial police force, the Surete du Quebec, is engaged in a missing person investigation, it said in a news release from Bruce Peninsula OPP.

"Allan has Parkinson’s disease and is suspended from driving."

So, the conference was in Boucherville 20-23 July, the car was seen 60 km South of there (when?) in Ste-Brigide-d'Iberville, then car found over in St-Barthélémy (Monday 15 August) which is an hour from Boucherville & around 2 hours from Sainte-Brigide.

This does not sound good :(.

Quoting myself: the car was found in a COMPLETELY different area from the convention & Sainte-Brigide sighting.

My speculation: did he get mixed up driving home & go the wrong way (East rather than West) on 40? Then realise his mistake and get even more mixed up/confused trying to turn around and go back in the right direction then get lost/run out of gas?

I've had something similar happen on the 40 - missed an exit, took the next one then found out there was no way "back" the other way & got rather lost in what seemed like the middle-of-nowhere. The area the car was found in is indeed very rural, & a lot of the roads look the same. Easy to get confused, IMO, *if* he was driving it :(.
