Search efforts in and around Fort McPherson, including his cabin on the Peel River, turned up no sign of him.
This week, Fort McPherson RCMP announced they have received new tips in Teya's case. As a result, police say the case has been taken over by the N.W.T. RCMP's major crime investigation unit in Yellowknife.
