TORONTO — Police are asking for the public’s help in what they’re calling a “suspicious” incident that reportedly saw a man grab a woman off the sidewalk, throw her into the back of his vehicle and drive off.

Const. Jenifferjit Sidhu said police received a called-in report that the woman was walking westbound along York Mills Road, just east of Yonge Street, around 8:15 a.m. Friday when a man stopped his gold-coloured vehicle and forced her in before driving away.

The man then allegedly drove westbound on York Mills Road.

The vehicle, with an Ontario licence plate believed to be BXBY 832, was last seen in the York Mills Road and Avenue Road area.

Police described her as an Asian woman in her twenties. She was seen wearing a black, hooded coat and blue jeans. The man is also described as Asian and believed to be in his 50s. He was last seen wearing a grey sweatshirt.

The Toronto Police Service is appealing for assistance locating a woman who was assaulted.

On Friday, January 8, 2016, at 8 a.m., the Toronto Police Service received a call for an assault in the York Mills Road and Yonge Street area.

It is reported that:

- at approximately 8:15 a.m., a woman was observed walking westbound along the north side of York Mills Road, just east of Yonge Street

- a gold-coloured vehicle, possibly a Nissan, travelling westbound on York Mills Road, made a sudden stop in a driveway on the north side of York Mills Road, near the woman

- a man exited the vehicle and approached the woman

- the man assaulted the woman and threw her into the back seat of the vehicle

- the man returned to the vehicle and continued driving westbound on York Mills Road

- the vehicle was last seen in the area of York Mills Road and Avenue Road

- the vehicle has a Ontario licence plate believed to be BXBY 832
