Joseph Vaudo, ex-owner of the Superior Lobster and Seafood, was arrested and charged with felony vandalism of property and illegal dumping on Friday after the compressor and oxygen supply to the company’s tank of live seafood was turned off, killing $10,000 worth of lobster.
On Friday, authorities responded to investigate to a report of vandalism. Video from Thursday around 9:18 p.m. showed a male throwing trash in the company’s commercial dumpster, illegally. He then proceeded to turn off the compressor and oxygen supply to the live seafood tank. Vaudo was positively identified in the video.
Vaudo owned Superior Lobster and Seafood until last December when a federal court ordered him to forfeit possession of the business, the Cape Cod Times reported. In 2014, Vaudo lost his license to sell fish and shellfish after he pleaded guilty to stealing oysters and not properly documenting shellfish records. At this time, he owned Joe’s Lobster Mart in Sandwich.
