“Multiple people have been injured after a car ploughed into pedestrians on a packed promenade close to Copacabana Beach in Brazil.

The incident happened at 8pm local time with reports suggesting at least 15 people have been injured. The area was filled with tourists at the time.

Pictures and footage have emerged showing numerous people hurt on the ground.

A fire department official later confirmed a baby, believed to be eight months old, was killed in the incident.
