Details of Disappearance
Williams was last seen running from her uncle's trailer at the Fellowship Community of Ruston on Highway 507 in Ruston, Louisiana on July 20, 2004. She ran eastward into a large, densely wooded area and has never been heard from again.

Williams has been known to drop out of sight for days at a time, but she has never been gone for this long. She left behind two daughters. Her sister reported her missing several days after she was last seen. Few details are available in her case, but foul play is suspected.

The family of a woman missing for more than a decade is speaking out after an arrest connected to her disappearance.

70-year-old Lonnie Frazier Jr., of Ruston, has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the case of Cheryl Williams.

Williams, who was from Simsboro, was reported missing in July 2004.

“From the beginning, we always knew he had something to do with it,” said Lari Talbert, Williams’ sister.

Talbert says before Frazier’s arrest, she would see occasionally see him out in public. She says the thought of the person responsible for her sister’s appearance walking free was mentally and emotionally challenging.

“I go to the junction, the store in Grambling and he’s there. He’ll sit in his car to wait me out,” said Talbert. “I’ll go in Fred’s and he’s in there and he’ll walk around the store and I’m left wondering, ‘why is this guy so intimidated by my presence?’ But I was just as cautious of him as he was of me.’”

Talbert says Williams and Frazier did know each other. She says the two were connected by her sister’s battle with drug abuse. The suspect would apparently let Williams take naps at his home, cook and clean.

“I don’t think that she was intimately involved with him, but in his mind we were told that he stated that he loved her and he wanted to marry her, but she was already married. So I think it was just an infatuation or a desire that he had and in his mind that was his woman.”

Williams’ daughter, Alexis Harrell, says she forgives Frazier, but wants him to come clean and give up the names of who else is involved. She was 12-years-old when her mom disappeared.

“I went through depression that I really never talked about, I went through a lot, I was closed in, you know just full of anger, just suppressing everything over the thought of not knowing,” said Harrell. “Having hatred in my heart towards him won’t bring my mother back, but he still has a chance to ask God to forgive him for whatever he’s done.”

Answers this family says they’re willing to wait for.

“When? I’m not sure, but I know that it will be soon and God didn’t bring us this far to leave us. So we know the information will get released and we will have peace and get what we’ve been waiting for, however that’s all in God’s hand when this time will be,” said Harrell.

The family answered questions on if they believe Cheryl is still alive. Talbert says her mom went to the hospital around the same time of the disappearance. When Williams didn’t show up, they accepted the fact that she was most likely gone.

“My mom said, ‘I know that my baby is not alive because she would not be out there and not come to this hospital to see about me,” said Talbert. “But we also know that if you have the faith the size of a mustard seed, you can always have faith. But we also asked God to prepare us for the good, the bad, and the ugly. So whatever comes up, we’re prepared for it and we’re just ready to move on.”

Police say the arrest is the result of a joint investigation between the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations and the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Details of Disappearance​

Williams was last seen running from her uncle's trailer at the Fellowship Community of Ruston on Highway 507 in Ruston, Louisiana on July 20, 2004. She ran eastward into a large, densely wooded area and has never been heard from again.

Williams was involved with drugs and has been known to drop out of sight for days at a time, but she has never been gone for this long. She left behind two daughters. Her sister reported her missing several days after she was last seen.

In August 2019, Lonnie Frazier Jr. was charged with second-degree murder in Williams's case. He had been a person of interest since early on in the investigation. A photo of Frazier is posted with this case summary. After his arrest, police had to release him after a grand jury failed to indict him.

According to Williams's family, she and Frazier knew each other and he would let her take naps at his home, cook and clean. He allegedly stated he loved her and wanted to marry her, but Williams was already married and her sister said her relationship with Frazier wasn't romantic.

Frazier is awaiting trial in Williams's presumed death. Foul play is suspected in her case due to the cases involved.
