The children of Maria Aparecida da Silva, from Sao Jose dos Campso in Brazil, were so shocked by her death last week they didn't even question why she'd died during cancer surgery when she'd been admitted to the Municipal hospital for a stroke. They busied themselves with funeral arrangements, including getting a headstone engraved.
At her funeral Sunday, they discovered it wasn't their mom in the coffin. She was still alive and well in the hospital, wondering why none of her children had been to visit her recently.
A spokesperson for the health department says those responsible for the 'inconvenience' to the family will be punished.
