I never created a post here, so I wasn’t sure where the best place to post this was. I’m curious of what y’all think about this. It’s VERY scary to me, especially with the recent cases of child abduction happening... My first thought was “why have a Ring Doorbell in a kids room” My daughter who works at a daycare, say some parents use it because they find sales and it can be cheaper then other video security... thoughts?

Technology is amazing today in the right hands. In the wrong hands not so amazing. It's horrifying to think how these little girls and Parent's were terrorized in their own home. Disgusting to think what he may have viewed.

Just saw this

The NulledCast is a podcast livestreamed to Discord. It's a show in which hackers take over people's Ring and Nest smarthome cameras and use their speakers to talk to and harass their unsuspecting owners. In the example above, Chance blared noises and shouted racist comments at the Florida family.

we had a camera set up in a bedroom to watch each of our cats who were getting neutered to make sure they were ok and not jumping around too much
the other night I was laying there with the lights off and on my tablet when I heard a musical sort of ringing sound
I thought my husband was moving the camera remotely (he was outside) and that's the sound it made but as I texted him I simultaneously heard his footsteps on the stairs so I already knew it wasn't him
creepy
I'm gonna show him this thread

I have 2 kitty cams in my house for when I’m out of town. I am now very skeptical after seeing this.. just crazy what technology can do...

Owners of Ring security cameras in Mississippi, Georgia, Florida and Texas have reported incidents where hackers tormented families with racial slurs, encouraged children into destructive behavior and demanded a ransom in Bitcoin.
Ring security camera hacks see homeowners subjected to racial abuse, ransom demands

In this article this has all just been reported just recently.

I do know on your set up.
Do the extra step of setting up the 5 didget sec#
Plus change your pass word. (Monthly) never use one of your other internet passwords of Apps. Make up a new one using more symbols.
When I ask for the # code they send me a # By text to my cell ph. My cell # only.
I have to enter that code.
This is scary.
The dark web gives out passwords not secured.
Any camera or even Alexa is there on market.
Some are not the hacker, but hackers sell these links to private citizens who are 1st rate pedifiles mostly children's. Old days of peeking Tom's as looking in Windows are gone.
Now they peek through our home cameras through the internet. Even Stalkers from FB.

By the way it's hard to track the hacker behind the voice. We need more tech high preditor SECURITY.
