HALIFAX—The murder of a Halifax-area woman 20 years ago remains unsolved and a homicide detective says someone needs to step up and tell police what they know.

Halifax RCMP said the body of 27-year-old Christine Majorie McLean was found in the bushes by a gravel road near a construction site off Highway 7 in Cherrybrook on May 11, 1998.

Police said after finding her body, they learned she was last seen alive on April 4, 1998. Then, 10 days later, she was reported missing to Halifax Regional Police.
According to a release issued Friday, evidence at the scene indicated she was killed somewhere else and her body was dumped near the construction site.

“Someone knows what happened to Christine twenty years ago,” says Cpl. Troy Murray of the Cold Case Unit of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division. “It’s time to come forward and talk with police.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Homicide Unit of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division at 902-490-5333 or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.

The case is also part of the Nova Scotia's Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program which offers up to $150,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible.
