DENVER — Denver Police are investigating the disappearance of 34-year-old Jax Gratton, a transgender woman who was last seen leaving her southeast Denver apartment on April 15. Gratton, a well-known hair stylist, was reported missing by her family this week.

Gratton’s sudden disappearance has raised concern within Denver’s LGBTQ community, with local organizations and individuals joining the search to locate her.

Friends and family have shared flyers across the city, hoping to find any leads about her whereabouts.

Brandy Carey, a friend and former salon manager, expressed the community’s worry. She said that it wasn't until several days after Gratton’s disappearance that anyone realized she was missing.

Jax has a really nice webpage for her business. More importantly, it has some further pictures of her that show a distinct tattoo across the upper chest that someone might remember seeing recently. About 3 — Studio By Jax Under the "past work" header on the website is a link to her instagram page.

Her cat left behind is worrisome.

In reading the family posts on the help find page. There seem to be some concerns about how long it took to realize Jax was missing. Once his Mom received the information and couldn’t make contact, she immediately called LE and made the report.

But there was roughly a two week lapse. Jax has a large network of people who are getting the word out there and communicating with his Mom on the group page. Thankful she has support right now.

Jax cosmetology license with the State of Colorado is in good standing and has been held since 2010. The document lists her middle initial as "C". Colorado Division of Professions and Occupations Online Services

In Jax's Mom's FB posts there are interesting comments related to any possibility of relapse (unverified source).

On the Facebook page, there are cctv images of Jax the night she was last seen. It looks like they have cctv set up inside the apartment (which is a bit weird, but okay, sometimes my husband likes to do this too so he can watch the dog 😂). She looks very different in that image than in the photos on her missing poster. Honestly, I think if I passed her on the street, I would not recognise her.

According to Carey, Gratton was last seen on the evening of April 15, around 10 p.m., leaving her apartment near East Iliff Avenue and South Colorado Boulevard. This was the last time her roommate saw or heard from her.

Gratton left behind some personal items, including her medicine and her cat, which has only deepened the concern of her friends and family.

Previously local to this area and I spend several months there a year. Iliff is not a great part of town. Not the worst but it can be a bit unnerving, especially in the evening and as a woman alone. Hoping Jax is found safe soon.
Edit to add that Colorado Blvd runs north and south throughout the metro area and up into Fort Collins (I’m more familiar with the northern half than the southern half) and is a relatively busy road on any given day depending on the crosstreet.

Agree, those images of Jax look nothing like what has been posted in the media. She does look different without a wig for sure.

The search efforts for Jax on social media are impressive but I don't see any solid leads on her whereabouts being generated. I live about 8 miles from that area and can say it's a very urbanized part of town. There are no significant rivers or lakes in that area, but there are some ''greenways'' and parks within a mile or so that have dense brush and a stream.

Jax Gratton has been missing since April 15, her friends and family say. The Denver Police Department is now investigating her disappearance.Studiobyjax / Instagram
''Jax Gratton, 34, was last seen leaving her University Hills apartment by her roommate.

Gratton rents a suite at Solera Salon Suites in Denver. Since each stylist works for themselves, it took days for anyone to realize she wasn't showing up to work.

Brandy Carey, salon manager and friend of Gratton's, was emotional while showing Gratton's suite, which hasn't been touched since she last worked on April 13.''

''Friends and family told ABC affiliate KMGH-TV that Gratton left her apartment at approximately 10 p.m. local time after telling her roommate that she’d be out for about three hours, but never came back. A photo shared with the outlet shows Gratton wearing a jacket and carrying two bags.
“It's just, it's absolutely a mystery," the hairstylist’s mom, Cherilynn Gratton-Camis, told KMGH-TV. She became worried when she didn’t hear from her daughter, especially on Easter. ''

''The mom told KMGH-TV that no one is aware of who Gratton was meeting or the location.''
''Gratton has red hair, blue eyes, weighs 150 lbs. and is 5'8” tall, according to the Denver Police Department. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 720-913-2000.''
