Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials said they believe Rubi-Nava is an illegal immigrant from Mexico.

Denver police confirmed Thursday they arrested Rubi-Nava on a traffic charge in April but released him.

Police spokeswoman Virginia Quinones said the arresting officer suspected Rubi-Nava's identification may have been forged, but she said the department was not responsible for verifying a suspect's immigration status, and a new Colorado law directing police to cooperate with federal immigration officers was not yet in force.

Afraid I don't know what you mean by that statement. Care to elaborate on that? I am SURE you aren't implying that anyone in America is happy to see this happen.

She said "either I'll kill you or you'll kill me" - so it's self defense and he'll be released and get a nice plane ride home. (BIG SARCASM BUTTON HERE)

i'm talking to the megarich here. and our ineffective govt., (who is tied in with the megarich) who just sat back and let it all happen... because cheap labor benefits them as well.

He will most likely not be sent back to Mexico or the country he is from.

If he does receive the death penalty after a trial, you can more likely expect the Mexican government to go to bat with great energy to have it overturned. For example, if he did not have immediate access to the Mexican Consulate after his arrest, they will use that as a reason to protest the sentencing.

What a horrific way for anyone to die. I personally thought there were drug war implications, it seemed too much of a message killing.

She may have lost consciousness after some time, but she suffered great pain and mental anguish before that. I remember the testimony and facts about the James Byrd case.

Hi Texana, In Oregon I know what happens as I know swomeone who went through it.

The person is jailed with an INS hold, processed through the court, and if found guilty is shipped down to a Fed prison in Arizona where he serves the sentence. At that point they are sent back to Mexico.

If they are found NG, they are shipped to Mexico directly.

Also, there are mandatory times for 1st, 2nd and 3rd time offenders, starting at 2 years for a drug charge, and on up.

Usually they just slip right on back into the US over the border. Once they have lived here they never want to live in Mexico again. They risk anything to come back, even tougher sentences.

Sex: it inspires so many violent crimes.

An older woman with children back in Mexico. A younger man with a wife and children back in Mexico. A volatile and violent sexual relationship between the two while they're in the U.S.

A sad, violent ending seems very predictable.

If the evidence is there to convict the "boyfriend" he'll serve his sentence in the U.S. and then be deported back to Mexico.

Given the circumstances and the characters involved, it seems possible that another jealous boyfriend might be the culprit rather than the live-in boyfriend. I hope LE has the right suspect in their sights. No matter who is responsible, it's a horrible crime.

A man charged with murder in the gruesome death of his girlfriend admitted he had put a rope around her neck and dragged her behind a car for several miles, a state investigator testified Thursday...

Investigators have said Francos Fierros had been dragged behind a Saturn sedan by an orange cargo tie-down strap wrapped around her neck. Brown, recounting his Spanish-language interview with Rubi-Nava, referred to a rope.

"He put it around her neck, he hooked it to her car, and he drove off," Brown said, recounting Rubi-Nava's statement.

"He said she was still alive (when he began dragging her). ... He said he didn't stop until what he believed was three or four miles."

Excuse me for being Captain Obvious but, we live in a sick world. :(

 Give him a *true* fairy tale ending. Specifically, the ending the false servant girl got in this Grimm's Fairy Tale. :furious: :furious: :furious: (It's titled The Goose Girl, ftr.)

Wrap a rope around his "treasures" and drag him down the road for 3-4 miles...
He is one sick, sick man...:behindbar

 Tee hee---LOL at the "Captain Obvious" phrase.....just struck me as really funny! It's been a long day!

It's hard to believe that one human being could do something so horrible to another human being. I can't begin to imagine what that poor woman went through. Didn't anyone see this happening? I hope some of the inmates hurt this guy in a bad way when he gets to prison.
