The above is all pasted from Namus, “l” of left added by me. I don’t know anything about his case, just a quick search on Namus.

ETA: I found a blog that has more information, ymmv. It appears his cell phone was found near Chimney Rock, CO (the opposite direction of where the missing person in question was discovered)

Rendering created by Samantha Steinberg of a set of unidentified skeletal remains found in east Pueblo County in 2022.

“There’s nothing on our skulls that indicates if a person has a unibrow, or if they’re balding or have long hair. Nothing is going to tell you the exact shape of someone’s eyes, or if they have heavy eyelids, or the shape of their mouth,” Steinberg said. “It also happens a lot with skeletal remains that you don’t recover hair.
“I always explain in my lectures that if you did a rendering of me based on my skull and you had me with straight hair, there’s not a person in my life, not even my own parents, who would call in if I were missing. If we don’t recover the hair or facial hair or something then you must be willing to build in ambiguity, like I did in this case.

“One side of the hair is short, and one side is long. I also provided alternate appearances with longer hair and facial hair. These are things we can’t determinebased on the circumstances we have, and I don’t want to visually exclude someone who could be a match because I wasn’t ambiguous or vague enough in some of the choices I made,” Steinberg said.

Investigators are now working with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Pueblo County Coroner Brian Cotter to complete Forensic Genetic Genealogy, which could help them identify possible family members – but that process can take time, the sheriff's office said.

Great news! I wonder who he was?
Police say 28-year-old Santino Cardella was reported missing back in April of 2022. They believe foul play was involved.

@SluethinAway The body believed to be Santino was found in 2024, this John Doe was found in 2022.

In October of 2024, police say they received a warrant to search land in Pueblo County. KRDO13 was on the scene as they searched and located a body

"In September 2022, the skeletal remains of an unknown individual were discovered in a shallow grave on private property in the 3500 block of 36th Street, a rural area of Avondale, Colorado. Avondale is a small town located about 15 miles east of Pueblo in Pueblo County. A forensic anthropologist examined the remains and determined they likely belonged to a male of European ancestry. The man was estimated to be between 40 and 60 years old and was likely 5'8" to 5'10" tall.

An autopsy determined the man suffered blunt force and sharp force trauma, and his death was ruled a homicide. A composite sketch depicting the man's likeness was developed and released to the public in hopes that it would assist in his identification. Despite the efforts of investigators, the man could not be identified and details of the case were entered into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) as UP97796.''

''Using this new information, a follow-up investigation was conducted, which led to the positive identification of the man, who is now known to be 39-year-old South Carolina native, Steven Robinson. Robinson moved to Pueblo, Colorado in 2017.''

Following Steven Robinson's identification, investigators focused on finding the person responsible for killing him. At the time of his death in early January 2022, Robinson lived with a man named Leon Pantoya. Pantoya told Robinson's friends and family that he had died due to pneumonia, when in fact, Steven Robinson was murdered by him and buried his family's property. Detectives learned that following Steven Robinson's death, Pantoya withdrew more than $75,000 from Robinson's bank account.

Investigators have now arrested 43-year-old Leon Pantoya who is charged with first-degree murder, identity theft, and theft. Pantoya was booked into the Pueblo County Jail and is being held without bail.''

''According to PCSO, Robinson was living with Pantoya when he died in January 2022. They said Pantoya told Robinson’s friends and landlord that Robinson died of pneumonia on January 22, 2022.

PCSO said Robinson’s remains were buried on a property owned by one of Pantoya’s family members, and they learned he had withdrawn more than $75,000 from Robinson’s bank account, where his military disability payments continued to be deposited for more than a year after his death.''
