''On March 24, CSPD responded to a shooting at the Mountain Country Estates apartments located in the 100 block of South Academy Boulevard.

26-year-old Shelley Dorsey of Colorado Springs died from a gunshot wound, according to CSPD. Her death was ruled a homicide.

Early reports from the investigation revealed Dorsey was sitting in her car outside the apartments when she was shot by an unknown suspect. No arrests have been made in Dorsey’s murder.

Billboard going up in Colorado Springs hoping to help solve cold case murder

Saturday marks three years since the life of Shelley Dorsey was cut short. Not only is one of her friends hoping to keep her memory alive, she's hoping someone will come forward with information on her murder.

''Shelley Dorsey, 26, was badly injured when police found her in an apartment complex parking lot. Dorsey had been shot, and died from her injuries a short time later. The shooting happened around 1 a.m. on March 24, 2015 at the Mountain Country Estates apartments on the 100 block of South Academy Boulevard.

Katie Hunt, a friend of Shelley's, reached out to 11 News this week with an announcement of a new billboard going up this weekend for Shelley. Katie said she approached Lamar Advertising, who agreed to post the billboard free of charge.

The billboard has a straight forward question across the top:
DO YOU KNOW WHO KILLED ME? Shelley Dorsey Never Forgotten March 24, 2015 CALL CRIME STOPPERS AT 634-STOP
The billboard will go up at Airport and Academy, just a few blocks away from where Shelley was killed.

"I really wanted something that would catch the community's eye," Katie Hunt explained. "It's still not solved, that somebody knows something and that if anybody knows anything, please remember that crimes stoppers is anonymous."

Hunt's hope, that one of the thousands of drivers that goes by it is able to help.
