A hiker who climbed a 14,000 foot (4,267 meter) mountain in the Collegiate Peaks on Saturday has been reported missing after failing to return home.

The Chaffee County Sheriff's Office says an extensive air and ground search on Mount Missouri Sunday failed to turn up any sign of 36-year-old Sheui Pako of Silverthorne. Teams from three search and rescue organizations and Air National Guard and Flight for Life helicopters were among those looking for him.

It's not clear if the search will resume Monday because of snow.

Mount Missouri search for Shuei Pako, 36, of Silverthorne, was suspended late Sunday night because of snow.

Pako was reported missing about 2 a.m. Sunday after summiting the 14,075-foot peak in northern Chaffee County on Saturday morning. Deputies went to the Mount Missouri trailhead and found Pako’s vehicle.

The search was suspended at nightfall and is scheduled to resume Monday morning, but possible blizzard conditions are expected in the Collegiate Peaks Range that could hinder attempts to find Pako.

We have three friends who are mutual friends with him and his wife. He looks to be a pretty experienced hiker. I guess he was alone? Experienced or not, with the snow it's just such a bad idea.

14ers.com calls this a moderate peak. https://www.14ers.com/route.php?route=miss1&peak=Missouri Mountain

Did he ever summit? And what time did he start? I can't find any of that info. It looks like he was trying to knock out as many 14ers in a season as he could (which is awesome). I hope he is out there and OK.

Oops, the 9news link does say he went missing after he summited.
