This is an article from 2023. I thought it may have information that we’ve overlooked, maybe a reminder of something we’ve forgotten about, or just a good timeline. May 10, 2020 was quite a busy day for Mr Morphew. There are also several related links at the bottom of this write up. We’re still waiting for the final pieces of the puzzle.

May 9-May 10

2:47 p.m. until 4:37 a.m. May 10

Barry’s phone went into “airplane mode,” a setting on cellphones that prevents the device from sending or receiving calls and text messages.

Agent Jonny Grusing told the court during the fall 2021 probable cause hearing that this was “…six hours we don’t know what happened.”

[…]

BM's phone was in airplane mode during the timeframe LE believes SM was killed. But both he and SM were known to use airplane mode because of spotty service in the area, so that detail alone doesn’t prove anything. IMO

Not to question that B and Suzanne "were known to use airplane mode because of spotty service in the area," but I don't understand why they would choose to do that? Isn't spotty service better than no service?

What does putting one's phone in airplane mode accomplish? I realize it makes your phone not trackable, but that has nothing to do with spotty service. Is it to save battery power since your phone might use a lot of power to search for a signal?

IIRC, SM's sister mentioned in an interview on The Interview Room YouTube channel (which is now banned on Websleuths) that SM would sometimes use airplane mode to save her phone battery. That’s what she told her sister. Those interviews with SM's sister were really insightful.

When I’m in remote areas with no service, I've also use airplane mode to keep my phone from draining the battery. That explanation made sense to me when I heard it. Who knows, maybe SM and MB both used airplane mode at times as an excuse to disconnect from family or friends. Honestly, it could have been both. The spotty service and battery drain were valid reasons, but it may have also been a convenient way to avoid contact now and then. Just my speculation.

And maybe BM did put his phone in airplane mode to kill SM. I just think that’s a tough sell when he probably had a pattern of doing that while he was home anyway is all. IMO

When had he been available to his business clients - only when absent from his property? I wonder.

I think the historical phone data for BM will tell the story of whether he routinely used AP mode or not. If he didn't normally use it as a general rule, why would he have used it during the time of the crimes right before/after?

Maybe LE pieced together what BM was doing (by truck or phone telematics) during that time except for a 6 hour timeframe? IDK, just a guess.

It's actually narrower than that iirc. He backed up the truck at like 10:30 pm and then there's no phone or vehicle data until like 3:30 am. At the time, there was a lung four hour window, ample time to relocate Suzanne's body. And now it appears that's exactly what he did, Moffatt and back and time enough to dig a shallow grave in hard soil.

Did he borrow a truck from his out if town neighbors? Did he have to swap batteries because theirs was dead, from storage? Did he borrow a four-wheeler? Was he off-roading? How fast and how far could he get in two hours in an ATV?

Whether then or that infamous turn, I think BM -- dumpster magnet that he is -- detoured long enough to pitch the first bit of evidence in the campground trash.

Please...
...might we learn from a family law/estate planning/elder law cohort on-site...
... what means may be available to Suzanne's heirs, at present or eventually,
to preclude her remains from ever lying next to
her controlling, narcissist, murderer/ "widower"
when that miscreant eventually assumes room temperature.

🤬

PLEASE
TIA !
Do NOT suggest such a revolting thing.

You turned my stomach.

But now I can't not hear head-shaking Barry whining, "the girls need you. I just want you back." He also said, as I recall, that if Suzanne cane back, he probably wouldn't take her back, wronged as he was. BAM in her bones notwithstanding. Reading from his upside down Bible, obscuring a couple of commandments with his meaty paws, he has probably forgiven her for being not right in her head, only entertains hot girls from Salida and/or his latest Suzanne 2.0 because a man has needs, and has fully rewritten history into which he was the heartlorn lover, and has picked out a his and hers burial plot this side of Moffatt.

Well, not if he has to pay for it.

Barry buries on the cheap.

Missing mom Suzanne Morphew was dumped in 'The Boneyard'. Police found bombshell evidence... but her killer is still free - Daily Mail

As another Mother’s Day approaches, one of Suzanne’s friends, Tisha Leeway, tells the Daily Mail she is furious that, still, no one has been held accountable.

‘I’m so frustrated that there hasn’t been an arrest,’ fumed Leeway. ‘They have the body, they have the autopsy. So why the silence? Why the lack of progress?

‘I’ve seen cases tried with less evidence than they have right now, so why hasn’t there been an arrest? We’re coming up on the fifth year… Suzanne deserves better than this.’

Leeway said she hopes whoever is responsible for her friend's death spends every day looking over their shoulder.

‘That person has to go to bed and live with what they’ve done for the rest of their life, so I believe they’re already in a prison within themselves,’ said Leeway.

Leeway believes she knows who is responsible for Suzanne’s death and is hopeful an arrest will be made by the end of the year.

Recently, a video emerged on social media, appearing to show a smiling Barry Morphew, 57, posing for selfies with his youngest daughter while out to dinner in Utah.

Leeway said the footage made her sick to her stomach.

‘It makes me sick to think that somebody gets to continue to live their life and have no cares in the world, and it seems his daughters have moved on too,’ she said.

‘After the autopsy came back, I thought things would’ve switched around, but I guess not.'

Perhaps there is something they found at the burial site or in the autopsy that doesn't add up? I have to assume investigators and the current prosecutors office have all the actual facts of the entire case. Also if anything was overlooked in the early investigation sometimes it's hard to be retroactive.

Current location of SM’s remains?

IDK whether SM’s remains are still in a county coroner’s (Chaffee or El Paso?) storage, custody, and control or elsewhere. Anyone?

Ap. 29, 2024 article** quoted both Prosecutor Anne Kelly & def atty Iris Eytan. It states:
The Morphew family was offered to retrieve Suzanne’s body, but “they want to ensure the suspect is apprehended before they take what could be an important piece of evidence in the suspect’s prosecution.”
** Ap. 29, 2024 article

So, who specifically “offered” and to which specific family member(s) was “offer” made?

For more than a year since Ap. 2024 autopsy report was completed, BM has failed to claim SM's remains IIUC.

Or have I missed an update? TiA.

I think they are most likely being held in the county where Suzanne remains were found. I would guess that Susan's remains were offered to her family, probably her brother and/or sister. If they were offered to BM and the daughters, and they didn't claim them, that tells me EVERYTHING I need to know about all of them.

Sounds like the Suzanne's side of the family just want to keep them in LE custody until after a trial just in case they might be needed, erring on the side of caution. I can't say I blame them, they know now that Suzanne has been found and will be laid properly to rest after the murdering psycho BM gets convicted and goes to prison for LWOP.

BM, primary next of kin.

IMO, gross as it is, he has the say so. Over her money, over her remains.

I can't wait until a jury of his peers has all the say so.

"Retrieve" Remains?

BM's atty. announced:* ".... The authorities offered the victims, Barry, Mallory, and Macy, the option to retrieve Suzanne's remains..."

That phrase prompted me to imagine a person showing up at coroner’s office, grabbing a container, & literally driving off w the cardboard box to bury in the backyard. Or to stash in a jumbled gun safe?

IDThink letting ppl "retrieve" remains is the way coroners release them.
IIUC the coroner releases remains only to mortuary or crematory.
At least that's my impression from Boulder County Coroner's ** webpage wording re next of kin contacting mortuary, completing paperwork the mortuary requires.
Ditto Weld County CO. Coroner.***

Welcoming more definitive or authoritative sources of re CO. law.

** Before the Boulder Co. CO. Coroner website listing the hierarchy of those who control final disposition, it describes coroner's procedure re remains.
“Until the examination process is completed, your family member will remain in the care of the Boulder County Coroner’s Office. In the meantime, it is recommended that you take some time to contact other family members and develop a support system in order to help with this difficult time. The next-of-kin should choose a Mortuary, contact them, and complete the necessary paperwork that they require.” bbm

*** FAQ, Weld County Coroner
"What happens in the investigation of a "coroner case?""
"... a deputy coroner will typically contact the next of kin....After sufficient information is available to establish the manner and cause of death, the decedent will then be available for release to a mortuary or crematory when arrangements have been made." bbm
