5'9" @ 100-120 lbs?
Was he sick?
What's up with the eye color description, right eye brown, left eye brown? Is it possible they meant one eye was of a different color?

The eye description is just from me copying and pasting from NAMUS rather than type out he had brown eyes. It's a form question that asks "right eye color" and "left eye color" but I will edit the post since you mention it.

Map location of the abandoned truck stop where the remains were found:
Google Maps
Street view: Google Maps

It's about 2 miles from Ringo's Market where William was last seen: Google Maps

From the 2012 Google street view the gas station was still open and operating then. I wonder if it shut down before or after 2016?

Maybe?

The Las Animas County Sheriff's Office says investigators found human remains while searching an area in relation to a missing person case that has been open for three years.

The search happened Saturday in a northwest portion of the county; the sheriff's office didn't specify where the search took place. Deputies with the sheriff's office were helped by the Colorado Forensic Canine unit and multiple other agencies during the search, according to a news release.

At some point during the search, human remains were located and recovered. The remains haven't been identified yet, and no other information about the remains will be released until next of kin is notified, according to the sheriff's office.

@Gardner1850 - there was a new set of remains located June 3, 2019, and they've not been positively ID'd yet.

Hopeful they belong to CB as the 3 year timing sounds close.

The sheriff's office didn't say which missing person case led to the search. No other details were given about the tip to search that area. bbm

For what it's worth, the link to Brown's NAMUS page returns a not-found error.

Yep, as with so many cases, we'll probably never know for sure.

In this case, it sounds like there's a high likelihood there's a criminal investigation as well. That often means they don't want to warn the possible perpetrators that they're on the trail.

Yes, I agree. This also has me thinking about 3 bodies located in San Luis Valley where a suspect has been charged with the murder of a missing woman although that woman has not been positively identified prior to the charges. I think it's possible that the remains (burn-pit) were 4 bodies and not 3. I think drug traffickers can drive the corridor here including Las Animas County with their eyes closed.
