The Boston Globe is launching a series exploring unsolved homicides and unidentified victims of violence.

The goal is to shed light on these cases, especially long-forgotten ones, with the hope that maybe, just maybe, someone will come forward with new information or evidence that will be helpful to investigators.

The first case is an unsolved shooting of an unidentified man in Burlington, MA in 1975:

The second case is that of a badly burned body that was found in a cellar in Westford, MA in 1973.

Initially, law enforcement suspected the unidentified male was from nearby Fort Devens.
