Scotland Yard has launched an investigation into a number of sexual offence allegations from across the country after media reporting of claims against Russell Brand.

The 48-year-old comedian and actor has been accused of rape, assault and emotional abuse between 2006 and 2013, when he was at the height of his fame working for the BBC and Channel 4 and starring in Hollywood films. He denies the allegations.

Without naming Brand, the Metropolitan police said on Monday it had received a number of allegations of sexual offences in London after an investigation by Channel 4’s Dispatches and the Sunday Times.

“Following an investigation by Channel 4’s Dispatches and The Sunday Times, the Met has received a number of allegations of sexual offences in London,” the force said in a statement Monday.

“We have also received a number of allegations of sexual offences committed elsewhere in the country and will investigate these. The offences are all non-recent,” it added.

Multiple other women who were not a part of the initial investigation have since come forward with fresh claims about alleged sexual misconduct.

Russell Brand has urged his followers to support him financially by paying a subscription fee on a video platform popular with right-wing streamers.

The comedian’s appeal for subscribers on Rumble came in a live stream just hours after the Metropolitan Police said it had opened an investigation into a “number of allegations of sexual offences” it had received against Brand in London as well as elsewhere in the country.

MPS also said that its Central Specialist Crime Command unit will conduct its investigation into Brand, according to CNN. The unit is led by Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy.

“We continue to encourage anyone who believes they may have been a victim of a sexual offence, no matter how long ago it was, to contact us,” Furphy said in a separate statement.

“We understand it can feel like a difficult step to take, and I want to reassure that we have a team of specialist officers available to advise and support.”

MPS’s announcement comes a week after a number of British politicians called on local authorities to launch an investigation into the allegations against the comedian, with the spokesperson for British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak saying that the allegations should be “treated seriously and treated with sensitivity.”

Russell Brand is facing a second criminal investigation in connection to allegations of harassment and stalking.

The woman reported her allegations to Thames Valley police numerous times between 2018 and 2022 but no further action was taken. Brand had also accused the woman of harassment against him in 2017, according to the BBC.

Brand has been approached for comment.

Last week, the Metropolitan police said it had opened an investigation after receiving a number of allegations of sexual offences in London and “elsewhere in the country”.

Brand has largely disappeared from mainstream media but has built up a large following online with videos mixing wellness and conspiracy theories.

These are the allegations against Brand:

One woman alleges he raped her without a condom against a wall in his Los Angeles home. She says Brand tried to stop her leaving until she told him she was going to the bathroom. She was reportedly treated at a rape crisis centre on the same day, which the Times says it has confirmed via medical records
A second woman, in the UK, alleges Brand assaulted her when he was in his early 30s and she was 16 and still at school. She alleges he referred to her as "the child" during an emotionally abusive and controlling relationship. Looking back, she says he "engaged in the behaviours of a groomer"
A third woman claims Brand sexually assaulted her while she worked with him in Los Angeles. She alleges she repeatedly told Brand to get off her, and when he eventually relented he "flipped" and was "super angry". She says he threatened to take legal action if she told anyone else about her allegation
A fourth woman alleges being sexually assaulted by Brand in the UK and him being physically and emotionally abusive towards her
On the same day the Dispatches allegations emerged, Brand performed a comedy gig at the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre in north-west London, in which he alluded to the claims but did not address them directly.

He told the audience there were things he wanted to talk about but could not.

On the following Monday, the remaining dates for his Bipolarisation tour were postponed.
Russell Brand: Thames Valley Police investigates allegations

The Crown Prosecution Service has authorised the Metropolitan Police Service to charge a man following an investigation by detectives.

The Met has issued a charge and requisition to Russell Brand, 50 (04.02.1975), of Oxfordshire, in connection with the following offences -

  • One count of rape
  • One count of indecent assault
  • One count of oral rape
  • Two counts of sexual assault
Detectives began investigating in September 2023 after receiving a number of allegations, which followed reporting by Channel 4’s Dispatches and The Sunday Times.

  • In 2004 a woman was orally raped and sexually assaulted in the Westminster area of London
  • Between 2004 and 2005, a woman was sexually assaulted in the Westminster area of London

There's no statute of limitations in the UK, and over the last decade or so we've seen many high profile figures in the entertainment industry convicted for historic sex offences.

Funny that he says that during that time he was abusing substances, but was not a rapist. If you were wasted constantly, how do you know what you did? You can’t claim to have been persistently blackout wasted, but also want the public to trust your word over your accusers. moo.

ADMIN NOTE

In the UK, the moment a person is under arrest, and throughout the entire judicial process up to appeal, sub judice comes into effect.

Sub judice is covered under Contempt of Court. If a post is considered sub judice by Mods or Admin it will be removed.

Any member who continues to post sub judice will be permanently banned from the discussion.

If a post includes any of the following, it is sub judice.

Anything that may prejudice the accused’s right to a fair trial
Any suggestion, opinion, or direct accusation that the accused is either guilty OR innocent
(i.e. the accused cannot be called "the killer"; use "the accused", "the alleged killer", or "the defendant")
A defendant’s previous history of any offences is off limits
Scandalizing the court (disparaging judges, lawyers, any officer of the Court) is off limits
Broadcasting anything about proceedings which happen in the jury's absence is off limits

Any non compliance with an Order of the court is off limits

Note in the event of an Appeal subsequent to verdict:

Appeals are usually heard by senior judges who are not likely to be influenced by the media, therefore responsible comment is usually considered acceptable once a trial has concluded, regardless of if there is going to be an appeal.

exactly what I was thinking. He owns that he was not a good person and did wrong stuff during active heroin addiction but denies these allegations. Like dude, you remember everything you did while out of your gourd on drugs? That's unusual MOO

Brand has been told to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on 2 May, but he is believed to be in the United States.

In these situations, where a suspect may be overseas, prosecutors seek to agree the defendant's return. If there is no co-operation from a suspect, authorities then consider seeking extradition.

' Bear Grylls helped baptise Russell Brand in the Thames when comic converted to Christianity after allegations came to light'

April 4,2025

"When Russell Brand was baptised in the River Thames last April, he said it was 'an opportunity to leave the past behind'.

And it was his friend, the TV adventurer Bear Grylls, who was on hand to assist in the ceremony.

With this statement sign of his conversion to Christianity coming little more than six months after news that he had been accused of rape, assault and abuse, critics were sceptical of just how sincere the star was."

“I’m a spiritual gent and increasingly that’s the level I want to vibrate on, were it not for my crazed lust for sex and glamour,” he said of himself in 2008. Last year, a Channel 4 investigation alleged he is a rapist and a sexual and emotional abuser after four women came forward to accuse him. He denied the allegations. Now, Brand’s a reborn Christian and a “deep-state”, “plandemic” conspiracist.
