Commuter Trains Collide in D.C. Metro

I don't have a link but part of the track was removed as shown on the news yesterday. This leaves me to believe there was an electrical problem which caused the sensors to fail. I am not sure why there was not a backup alert system. Well, maybe there is and both systems failed.
