Country Music Hall of Famer Charlie Daniels dies at 83

Known best for The Charlie Daniels Band hit "The Devil Went Down to Georgia," Daniels spanned genres that included gospel, southern rock, bluegrass and country.

Country Music Hall of Famer Charlie Daniels died Monday in Tennessee, according to a statement from his publicist. He was 83.

Daniels died of a hemorrhagic stroke at Summit Medical Center in Hermitage.

Thank u Bette for starting this thread. I was running errands and received an alert that Charlie had passed. What a talent and he was so great to listen to. And his amazing fiddling!

I had the times of my life dancing to The Devil Went Down To Georgia years ago. Such happy, carefree times and memories.

Thank u Charlie for the wonderful music. RIP.

RIP Charlie. I am really not a great big fan of county, but I loved him. What a guitar player!! I send my sympathy to his family, friends, and all of the fans who loved him. I'm sure he is playing a great guitar in heaven. RIP. Katt

oh Bette I just had to watch this as it’s been so long since I heard this song. I’ve never really been a country music fan but luv this song!
