Ande has a sister so why is his ‘DNA sample currently not available’ on NamUs?

Anji Fan, Ande's sister, is a nun with the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary of the Woods in Indiana. She said finally finding her brother would "help to bring my heart to peace."

Fan described her brother as a "warm, kind and quite outgoing" person.

"He is passionate about things," she said, via email.

Ande Fan had lived in the New Haven area since about 1998 until his disappearance, she said.

"I do not know what happened to him. He just left without his key, passport and everything else, and walked out of his apartment," Anji Fan said. "We never found out what happened to him."

According to Anji Fan, Ande had called their mother in China often and he had last spoken to their mother Aug. 6, 2004. Anji said she had spoken to him on the phone a few days before his disappearance.

She had been living in San Francisco at the time.

"There were no indications or signs for his disappearance," she said.

Police haven't been in contact with the family with any updates since around Thanksgiving 2004, according to Anji Fan.

She came to Connecticut to look for her brother at the end of August, and then about Thanksgiving of that year to clear out and close Ande's apartment.

"I posted about 200 fliers around the New Haven area, and I sent several hundred fliers to the hospitals, social service places in Connecticut and more," Anji Fan said.

Ande's disappearance has been difficult for his family members, she said.

"We do not know what happened to him," Anji Fan said. "I beg people who know any information to come forward and help us."

If this was a facility that he walked away from, don't most of those places have cameras and even a door person that checks people in and out? No idea where he frequented. Or favorite restaurants?

From what little information I can find about Ande he was an endangered person so you would think so. Also, I still can’t get over the fact that NamUs has no DNA in the system for him. His poor dear sister. It doesn’t seem like she had much assistance from the facility or LE in her search for her brother.
