It’s been five years since Andrew Valeri Lavigne was last seen in New Haven.

Lavigne was reported missing Feb. 16, 2021, to East Lyme Police, who have renewed their call to the public for help and information. While Lavigne was sharing an apartment in New Haven with a roommate when he went missing, his father lived in East Lyme at the time.

Lavigne was adopted from Russia when he was a boy, grew up in Enfield and, while in his 20s, spent time in South Carolina with a relative, his family told local news media. He was a Boy Scout, was on the swim team in high school and later worked as a lifeguard at a Connecticut camp.

When the family went to his New Haven apartment five years ago, they found his medications and his favorite pairs of shoes left behind, they told the New Haven Register. Lavigne had regular contact with a cousin until early February 2021, when communication stopped, she said. The family now fears the worst has happened.
