A man who lives at the same address where a 12-year-old was found dead last month has been charged with sexual assault, Enfield police confirmed Friday.

Anthony Federline, 39, was arrested on a warrant Thursday. He was charged with first-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a child.

While police confirmed the victim of the alleged sexual assault was a 12-year-old living at that address, they could not confirm the child’s identity.

Enfield police said Thursday they are working with the office of the chief medical examiner to determine the cause of death for Eve Rogers.

Enfield Police Chief Alaric Fox said Rogers was found unresponsive at Elm Street around 10:25 on Wednesday morning. She lived there, and her immediate family was present at the time.

The chief told News 8 that crews had to get a search warrant for the home. The Connecticut State Police Central District Major Crime Squad also assisted with the investigation.

Eve Elizabeth Rogers, age 12, passed away on March 18, 2026. She was born on August 31, 2013, and in her twelve years, she brought a depth of love, awareness, and spirit that many never reach in a lifetime.

Eve was the beloved daughter of Melanie Federline and Anthony Federline, and the biological daughter of Robert Rogers. She was a cherished sister to Dominick, Jayden, Maxwell, Jaxx, and Claire, and a deeply loved granddaughter of Elizabeth and Mark D. Gray. She is also survived by a wide and loving circle of family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.

Eve was not a quiet presence in this world. She felt deeply, loved fiercely, and saw things in a way that made people stop and think. She had a passion for animals, especially cats, and a heart that extended far beyond herself. She cared about justice, about people, about the world as a whole. She stood up for what she believed in, even at a young age, and carried a sense of empathy that was both powerful and rare.

She loved color in all its forms, especially pink, teal, black, purple, and rainbow. She embraced both softness and edge, beauty and intensity, light and shadow. She was uniquely herself, unapologetically, and she gave others permission to be the same.

Eve was wise beyond her years. She asked big questions, felt big emotions, and held a deep understanding of the world around her. She loved deeply and openly, and the impact of that love will continue to ripple outward in the lives of those who knew her.

She was, and always will be, unforgettable.

Eve’s life reminds us to care more deeply, to stand more firmly in what we believe, and to love without holding back.

She is loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, April 11, 2026 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm followed by a service, at the New Day Church, 1551 King St. Enfield.

Suspect's FB Page

can't/won't link it here but a family friend opened a G F M page for the mother and stepfather, to raise money for funeral expenses and so the couple could take time off work to grieve. Burns my chaps, like what exactly is there for the accused to grieve? The fact that his built in SA victim is now dead and unavailable to serve in that role anymore? grr

The 12-year-old girl, later identified as Eve Rogers, was found lying on the floor of her bedroom, facing the ceiling of the room. She had a blanket covering the lower half of her body. The arrest warrant stated she also had blood coming from her nose.

Federline stated that the girl was diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), was autistic and was in the process of being diagnosed with bipolar disorder, according to the arrest warrant. Federline was overcome with emotion and appeared to be angry, according to the arrest warrant.

Detectives at the scene did not interview Federline, as he asked for space because he “wanted to break things,” according to the warrant.

Roger’s mother said she was last seen the night before, around 10 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. She stated she was in her room with the door locked, which was not unusual. When she went to wake up her daughter the next morning around 10 a.m., she grew worried when she received no response, the arrest warrant states.

She used a butter knife to open the door, where she found her daughter lying face down on the floor. She turned her over, thinking she was still asleep, according to the warrant, and ran to her husband for help when she saw her face.

According to the arrest warrant, two pills were found on the floor near the door in Roger’s bedroom. There was another pill that appeared to be Aspirin on her desk. She had YouTube open on a laptop in her bedroom.

A sexual assault kit was performed on Rogers prior to her autopsy, which found Federline to be one of the “contributors” from a DNA swab, the arrest warrant states
.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is investigating the cause and manner of Roger’s death, pending the toxicology results, police said.

Federline was also employed as a school bus driver for Smyth Bus Company, the Enfield Public Schools’ contracted provider of student transportation services, at the time of the alleged assault. He has been terminated from his position, according to the Enfield Public Schools superintendent

Beautiful tribute to Eve in her obituary, I'm glad to see it has been updated to remove Federline's name now.

I wonder if her door was lockable from both sides?

Has anyone found the actual arrest warrant affidavit?
Getting bits & pieces from various news outlets however, no one's including the affidavit in their articles.
I live in CT & have been following this case since March 18th, when this lil homeschooled girl was discovered deceased. There were red flags from the beginning so this arrest doesn't come as a surprise. I suspect murder charges will be coming soon after the COD & toxicology report comes back.
