16-year-old Kayla Ortiz was last seen wearing a brown jacket with a fur hood and black pants. She is described as Hispanic, 5-foot-6, approximately 175 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. Ortiz was last seen at the children’s center on Whitney Avenue and Mather Street.

Search continues for missing teen with special needs

State police have issued a Silver alert for a missing teen from Bridgeport who hasn't been seen in five days.

News 12 Connecticut spoke to Jennifer Pellechio, whose 16-year-old daughter is being sought by state and local law enforcement after going missing from the Children's Center in Hamden.

Ortiz was in Hamden undergoing medical treatment for what her mother describes as psychiatric conditions related to her special needs.

Pellechio says her daughter is off her medications, has food allergies and is not wearing a bracelet for them. she says she is urgently in need of medical attention.

wow wondering what's going on there and how she keeps escaping treatment centers. You would think places like that would be more secure.
