DANIEL TESSIER

On June 4, 1946, trapper Daniel Tessier, 34, was travelling to his District of Algoma cabin on the Jackpine River intending to return to work later that day.

But ominously, he told his wife if he didn’t return to contact the OPP.

Tessier had been getting threatening messages that claimed he had ratted out fellow trappers to fish and game officers. Eight days later his body was discovered floating on a nearby lake. He had been shot in the head.

The slaying remains unsolved.
