Sad news. RIP DS. Though I was too young to watch a lot of '70's shows on TV, I do remember seeing some S&H re-runs in the '80's. Much later, I caught some of his other great performances on DVD:

-The gritty Clint Eastwood/Dirty Harry film Magnum Force (1973) - IMHO this is the best DH film.

- A decent TV mini-series adaptation of Stephen King's iconic horror novel 'Salem's Lot (1979).

-One of the best episodes of The Streets of San Francisco (1972-1977), an well-done '70's crime drama. The episode was "Hall of Mirrors" (Season 01).

He also played a minor role in the Star Trek: TOS episode "The Apple", where he was one of the native Feeders of Vaal, a malevolent monster-headed planetary ruling computer.

I remember him from Salem's Lot which I still love. He was also good in "In the line of duty" he played a great bad guy.
