"Baby Girl' is a racist term now? I'll have to tell my daughter's boyfriend to stop calling her that. It's odd that she didn't know it was racist, since she and her BF are both half black.

Yes, it is racist when a white cop talks to a black woman like that. Do you really think it is appropriate for any LEO to call a citizen “baby girl? Do you really believe that is an appropriate way for a white cop to talk to a black woman? Do you think that everything your daughter’s boyfriend would say to your daughter would be appropriate for a cop to say to a citizen?

If a black cop walked up to you on the street, and said, “hey baby girl”, do you think that would be appropriate? I kind of don’t think you would appreciate it.

I don't see how it would be racist. It might be too familiar and seem a bit phony. But I think labelling it as racist is a bit of a stretch. If a black cop called me 'baby girl' , I wouldn't think he was a racist. I'd think he needed his eyes checked.

" baby girl" is a common term of endearment in many neighborhoods. Boyfriends use it for girlfriends, guys use it for cute girls, girls use it towards best friends. It sounds a bit odd coming from that female LE but it isn't racist. She uses it like some people use " Hun". With that said, I do have a problem what I have seen of the video. I don't like the fact that the officer is holding that woman with her feet off the ground. i don't like it at all!

I don't like it either---I've never seen anything like it. It's not like she's being combative, resisting, or even being vocal. I've tried but still can't find any footage of what happened from the time he approached her by the building and when she's being held up against the cop car with her feet in the air. Why would that be redacted?

You are correct in your original account. I posted that full video, but the moderators removed it. The video is still on YouTube. Some people here don’t like to hear the truth, especially when it comes to LEOs.

are you sure? post it again, there is no reason for it to be removed. or PM the link to me and i will post it. or tell me the title of the video on youtube so i can find it.

i never saw it on this thread, and you are certain it isnt that 9 second video i linked? sounds EXACTLY like it. cop in car, pans over to woman standing at bus stop with man sitting next to her...

i dont like it either, and i dont like the way he is talking to her even more. if he doesnt have a good reason for doing so he should be fired.

I can't imagine what that must have felt like. IMHO, scaring the **** out of someone isn't a great way to get truthful info from them.

I'd tell you anything just so you'd put my feet on the ground -- and hopefully stop screaming at me.

The woman told WTTG the officers likely thought of her as a threat as she was arguing with a man who was harassing another woman on the street. In the clip it appears the male officer told her “your ass is dust,” which the video poster noted in Twitter comments. The WTTG video report indicated the male officer accused the woman of “prostituting herself,” which she denied.

I think everyone here knows I stand behind LE, but this just doesn't look right. I just can't come up with a reason for the officer having her feet off the ground like that.
Police officers are human. There are good and bad in every profession. We don't know this officers record with the dept. so I don't know about him needing to be fired. He does come off as having an attitude like a bully here. At the very least he needs some kind of retraining? Reeling in?? Discipline? Something.

Baby girl is also a term widely used by fans of Shemar Moore. it is frequently used by him on Criminal Minds as well. I have never heard it used in a racist way. Jmo

Can't get this case out of my mind. IMHO, if this officer isn't off the force we will be seeing his name in the news again. Next time it could have a truly horrible ending.

If she didn't try to pull a gun or knife (which she obviously didn't), I just can't imagine any action which would have justified his actions, words and attitude. What was that tiny little woman going to do?

I fully support LE when they deserve it, but not blindly.
