Circumstances of Disappearance:
Morton was last seen at her residence at 114 West Market Street in Georgetown, Delaware by her granddaughter on a winter evening in either 1938, 1939 or 1940. Few details are available regarding her disappearance and her whereabouts remain unknown.

She was born Marion Alice Simonds (various minor spelling differences in records but this is the most common) and was divorced at the time (although this does not seem material as she was shown as divorced in the 1930 census). This identification is sound based on her daughter Uula shown as married to Isaac Dolphus Short II. Nor surprisingly her two children are both deceased but one grandchild may still be alive. It is surprising there is not more coverage/information as her son in law (Isaac Short) became a Vice Chancellor (Justice) of the Delaware Court of Chancery (the constitutional court which rules on business matters). So the family were both affluent and connected.

Looks like she actually disappeared early 1936.

If the news article is accurate, Marion was likely having problems mentally that affected her physically. Whether she entered a bus or attempted to walk somewhere and got disoriented, I wonder what investigations went on that we're not told about (such as whether drivers were questioned or hospitals were checked). jmo
