Did you know Wednesday’s date is a palindrome? Just look at the numbers: 4-24-24.

Now try reading backward. It is still 4-2-4-2-4.

April 20 through April 29 is a week of palindrome dates, meaning the dates can be read forward and backward with the same result.

Oxford Languages defines a palindrome as a “word, phrase, or sequence that reads the same backward as forward.”

According to the Farmer’s Almanac, palindromes are considered rare and even lucky for some.

According to timeanddate.com, the current millennium will feature 36 palindrome days. The first occurred on Oct. 1, 2001, and the last will occur on Sept. 22, 2290.

And remember, palindromes aren’t only dates. Check out some well-known palindrome words:

  • Racecar
  • Kayak
  • Noon
  • Dad
  • Mom
  • Radar
  • Civic
  • Madam
  • Level
