Today, taking a DNA test is more than just to resolve a paternity issue.

It is now one way to uncover the history of your ancestors, pinpointing your roots and tracing back 2,000 years into your family tree.

Avoiding long research into your family records, Ancestry DNA offers the chance for people to simply spit in a tube and have it an analysed in a lab for a fee of £79.

The results, which take around 4-6 weeks, are then emailed, revealing a breakdown of the DNA that makes up you.
