According to the Columbia Police Department, 18-year-old University of South Carolina student Donaven Dempsey is missing.

According to the Columbia Police Department, 18-year-old University of South Carolina student Donaven Dempsey is missing.
Investigators with the Special Victims Unit say on May 8th, the USC student left his hometown of Spartanburg and returned to Columbia. Since then, he hasn’t had any contact with loved ones. He was last seen wearing a white tee shirt, black sweater with a neon green inside, and blue jeans.

That can be so difficult. I lost my Mom as a teen (cancer) and even almost 50 years later, Mother's Day is really hard as you're reminded everywhere in the media of it. I hope he is OK, and lets those who love him know.

USC student left Upstate to return to Columbia and hasn't been seen since, police say

An 18-year-old USC student went missing after leaving Spartanburg on May 8. Police and family are seeking information on his whereabouts.

Donaven's father tells us that the last time he spoke to his son was Thursday. He was in an Uber and said he was going to his girlfriend's house in Spartanburg.

"And it wasn't until about an hour later when I spoke to his girlfriend that he wasn't with her, and she couldn't track his location on the phone anymore. And at that point in time, he had shut his phone off and was not receiving anyone's calls," David Dempsey, Donaven Dempsey's father, said.

Instead of going to his girlfriend's house in Spartanburg, the 18-year-old took an Uber to Columbia, South Carolina, according to his Uber account.
