HOUMA – A woman, asleep at the wheel with a beer bottle still in her hand, was arrested early this morning for third-offense DWI on a Houma street, police said.

Tammy L. Trahan, 34, Dantin St., Raceland, apparently feel asleep in the Pontiac Sunfire she was driving, police said. The car, its engine still running, was on Barrow Street. Police say Trahan was out, but her foot was on the brake. She also had an open Bud Light bottle of beer in her left hand and an unopened can of Budweiser between her legs, said Houma Police Lt. Todd Duplantis.

Trahan failed a field sobriety test, and a breath test showed her blood-alcohol level was .094, higher than the legal limit of .08. She is charged with DWI third offense, simple obstruction of a highway, having an open container in a vehicle and driving without a license.

Thank goodness she didn't kill anyone. Nothing right about that at all.
