Found Deceased Duncan Macleod, 52, from Baymore, North Uist, Outer Hebrides, last spoken to evening of 9 November 2022

We are appealing for information which help trace Duncan Macleod who has been reported missing from his home in the Western Isles.

The 52-year-old from the Baymore area on North Uist was spoken to during the evening of Wednesday, 9 November and was reported missing earlier today (Monday, 14 November).

It is out of character for him to be out contact for such a period and officers are concerned for his welfare.

Duncan is described as being 5ft 8in tall with greying hair.

Anyone who seen or spoken to Duncan at any time since Wednesday, 9 November or who has any other information about his whereabouts is asked to call 101, quoting reference 1261 of 14 November.

Around 12noon on Wednesday, 16 November, the body of a man was found in the sea near Grimsay, North Uist.

The body has been formally identified as Duncan Macleod, 52, reported missing from his home on Monday, 14 November, 2022.

Inspector Ian McCorquodale said: “Our thought are with Duncan’s family and friends. His family have asked for privacy and thanked everyone, including the local community and emergency services, involved in the searches for him.

“There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
