prominent eating disorder expert who allegedly collapsed in a supermarket after inhaling propellant from whipped cream cans applied for a special form of probation Thursday.
Lisa G. Berzins, 49, was arrested earlier this month in connection with a May 29 incident at the Farmington Avenue Stop & Shop in West Hartford.
According to the arrest warrant affidavit, police found her lying on the floor of Stop & Shop, bleeding from her head. She told police she did not know what happened.
Based on witness accounts, police determined that Berzins apparently inhaled from three cans of whipped cream containing nitrous oxide, known as laughing gas.
